Stolen! FJ60 - San Francisco - 11/2 - Help!

I was the one who found it and told the cops

I was on my way to a 4hr HAZMAT training to help clean up the beaches from the big oil/fuel spill we had in the bay a few days ago this morning when I saw it -
It was in fine shape - I called my girlfriend at home and asked her to get on MUD to get the info to call CK Cruiser – There was only an email so I couldn’t call and wait with it. We decided to go get the cops – A few blocks away is a 7Eleven that I know the cops are always at and of course there was Office Paige sitting in his car maybe finishing a donut?– He ran the plate number and verified that it was indeed stolen and took off to the trucks location. I was late to my training so I emailed CK with my blackberry and headed off to the HAZMAT action see attached pics. – No word from CK but based on his post it sounds like the cops notified him. I would have preferred to call him myself to save the towing fees but didn’t want to risk the thief coming back and moving it.
It was in good shape and I didn’t see any damage.
I can’t believe I found it!

Very cool!! Ditto the comments of calling your insurance, there's a good chance they may cover some of the costs since they were associated with a theft (assuming you had theft coverage). But no matter what you should call them and see what they say.

Very happy for you. BTW I am, at this very moment, installing my gearshift lock, inspired by your ordeal.

Glad they found it! If anything good came out of this is to raise awareness of how this kind of thing can happen at anytime. I'd rather my Newer car be stolen than my FJ60, but I'd rather it not happen at all!

Damn thats lucky! Over here, if a cruiser is stolen, it's stripped for parts before you can say "2H, H55, Toyo Locker axles and original winch"
Thumps up to you Caprito for seing it AND not just go about your buisness! I mean, actually calling the girlfriend and ask her to check Mud, then finding a cop and at the same time being late for your course! I know a lot of people who might have thought about it when they came home, and then maybe done something...
And a big congrats to ckcruiser, eventhough she has been touched by the un-worthy, she's HOME!

Altan - Thanks for the encouragement...it seems that you are able to predict the future! (see below)

All - I just got a call from SFPD and they found my rig! I don't yet know what shape it's in and I have to jump through some hoops (get a release form from the PD, go to the impound to claim my truck, etc.) before I'll find out, but I'll keep you posted. Please keep your fingers crossed that damage is minimal.

The one thing that does suck is that I have to pay for the towing ($240) and the storage ($50/24hrs)! I gotta figure out how I can get out of work to pick it up before the storage fees mount!

I just knew you would get it back..With so many friends and Cruiser heads looking out for it the scum bags did not have a chance. To bad they did not get picked up also.
