I'm honestly just waiting for the day the finally decide to "activate" I'd say the only thing stopping it now is that all us good "ole" boys with guns still outnumber them. Japan ruled out attacking the US mainland for fear they would find a gun behind every door. But with all the PC BS, they are trying to thin down the number of doors that they (the enemy, whoever "they" may be) have to worry about.

I just hope that enogh folks come around before it is too late. I once read or heard that the only way that people will ever truely care enough to do something is when it affects their own day-to-day lives, the problem is that when enough folks are affected for there to be a change, it will very likely be too late for us to stop it. And the dumba$$es in Washington are too worried about hurting someones feelings and keeping their cronies pockets lined that they couldn't see past the ends of their own up-turned noses.

Hate to be a downer, but as you said, I'm just calling it like I see it.

I also will say that while I am not on the Donald Train just yet, it is very refreshing to finally hear someone say all the things that the majority of the country wants to hear someone say. Him being a buttzillionare means that he doesn't have to worry about who is donating money to his campaign or who "pulls that money" because he hurt somebodies feelings. He just calls a spade a spade. Be interesting to see how far that train rolls.

As I see it he was totally a lone wolf and had no ties to ISIS or any other form of terror. Totally a joke, I had forgotten how much of a pain in the ass it is to fly because of these people until I went on vacation for the last few weeks. I was in South America for ten days and it was like before 9/11, it honestly took 10 minutes to get through security because you didn't have to take your shoes, belt, hat, and etc. off to walk through the metal detector and I flew 4 times while I was there. It already effects small things like this so how far is to far. I couldn't fly from Nashville to Knoxville shorter than I could drive it today.

That part was a joke about the lone wolf. And I agree with taking all steps to keep the country safe, just stating that the terrorist already effect our day to day life in small ways. I was agreeing with your alls comments guess it didn't come out right. It was dark and I was drunk.

no evidence that the attack on the marines was anything beyond a deranged lunatic individual. Now people seem to have an idea to arm everyone in uniform stateside...(dumb). Way too many people being reactionary to this single lunatic... There are things that cannot be planned for...or stopped (especially if you have no fear of death). You can throw up some roadblocks but arming "everyone" is not the answer in the country we live in. We have a police force and literally a dozen or couple dozen different local/federal law enforcement types (not all of whom are present in every community) but...I've not seen any conclusions where this is somehow alleged to be a national threat to uniform members across the country.

Its real funny when you think about flight safety and the impact to the American public flying stateside...all the rules all the time all the red tape. Now look at what the international airports around the world do...and by the way those people fly into the US system everyday. Its kind of like the border with Mexico and Canada...everyone in the political world in DC will tell you the border is secure...of course you might find that different if you did a site visit. And then you are only talking about the physical land based border. I saw where they were hiring 2,000 more border control agents...for the "secure" border we have now.

Just like people want to say "the person pulled the trigger....not the gun itself".... so don't outlaw all the guns because some lunatic got a hold of one or a few and bought some ammo, you can draw analogies all day long. Don't arm everyone based on the actions of an individual.

Given the threat situation...it makes no sense to arm the national guard or reserve (in my view).... the news kept calling these place military facilities....one place I saw on the news was simply a recruiting office in some strip mall, which I'm sure there are literally hundreds across the country and in many local towns of reasonable size.

If you arm everyone...then you got to have a crap load more rules of engagement and then all kind of stuff starts cooking off. Just because you wear the uniform does not mean you have any experience serving in combat arms....or dealing with small arms on a daily basis...I know...but its the truth.

People seem to be jumping to way to many flawed conclusions and giving credit to some of the hype.

Trump can kiss my ass and any veterans' ass all day long....you don't question a POW's service, you might question their political views but you don't question their service to the country. Just off-limits in the political game or at least I thought it was. The very idea that Trump considers that fair game is total BS and really sets me off. Way too many people in this country have no idea what it means to really serve in the armed forces (not that its something that sets one American over another), but its the base understanding of what that really means and what sacrifices and what things people have endured in war-time and peace-time..etc. Some of which you have to live to get some minor feel for what it really means.

Running a government is far different than running a business where you are the single sole owner / dictator....far different. A lot of stuff Trump says he is going to do if elected in regard to the gov. policies and changes....absolutely is full of BS. They don't give you a magic wand and say now you are the Pres...and you can abolish all these rules/laws/regulations/policies...etc just because you think its a cool idea. I'll leave it at that...but many inefficiencies of the government are intrinsically linked to the regulations and laws which govern the very agency or component of the Government...you are talking about rules and regulations that books are made out of...the magnitude is overwhelming. Trump is playing to the hype...he may or may not have a clue as to the reality of which he thinks he speaks to, but as one "gov idiot" I can tell you that a lot of what he says with respect to changing the gov. is total BS and not feasible. A number of other politicians are also making various statements of half-truths and not telling the whole story in regard to federal employees etc, since I'm one of "those" people I do have a clue about that...

Rant on ..... I do like Trump's haircut...its incredible on a windy day :)

All Marines have basic infantry training...across all their job series...I think one motto of the Marines is infantry first or something like that, where their recruiters come from I have no first hand knowledge but I suspect that they come from all the various job series in the Marine Corp just like the other services do. Generally recuirters come from any of the various job series within a service...and they have a "tour of duty" as a recruiter and then they return back to their job series they left initially (enlisted folks). So a recruiter could be by trade a mechanic, an infantry guy, a armor guy..a MI person..etc or from any of the job series the army offers to enlisted soldiers.

You can't defend some of the federal workforce...because some of them are that bad...."some".

Nothing has really changed in the political world in the last few decades...its more of the same... what I've noticed in recent times in that our nice elected folks seem to have a problem agreeing on a plan of action, they don't work out compromises or seek to arrange deals ...they just draw a line in the sand and the refuse to budge..the American people loose from the lack of decision...I'm not advocating on the decision itself...but the delay and posturing and lack of the decisions are the problems. Sequestration is another mindless approach... if you took a sequestration approach to the private sector you would be fired your first week.... No-one takes a mindless approach to their business model or budget/resources in the private sector...but thats exactly what the Congress has mandated in recent times in regard to the DOD budget. If you listened or read the news...you continue to see where the Armed Forces Chiefs (Senior 4 star generals) have continued to comment negatively on this in respect to their ability to defend the country and execute their mission.

Lack of a budget and the continued game of a a continuing resolution all have costs assorted with that... (costs in planning and meeting schedules, cost in the ability to pay for things in a planned and efficient manner, multiple layered costs). The ability to plan long term is probably the most critical one over time.

We were going to go to Chapel Hill to the tractor pull tonight, but we decided paying $90 for the three of us to go only to have the little :princess: decide she wanted to leave after 30-45 minutes was not the best idea, so instead we ate at the main street grill in Eagleville and then took a ride down 41a and cruised the back roads of Bedford County for a while. Happened by a 450 that I am going to try to pick up next week for parts... damn backroads....

Where did you spot the 450? I only ask because I wonder if it's the same one I spotted out side of shelbyville.

My phone battery suffered a sudden death, new battery should be here tomorrow. I will return messages as soon as I can.

No wonder can't get ahold of you. I am in for OTMT next weekend.

excellent. Battery tracking says "out for Delivery" only a day late

I have seen several mail carriers with that set up.

lol, @Hugh Heifer you posting up is the most exciting thing that has happened over here in some days...

How are things going? saw your traffic video the other day, you should be in some kind of special pay bracket for having to deal with that everyday.... I would loose my flippin' mind if I had to do that every day, might just sleep at the office. Are you still the boss over there? Stay safe and come back stateside soon.

Just posted another. I do love the camera. If anyone needs one it is an LX460W by SDOD. Super clear, decent instructions and lots of features.

I certainly am missing the crew. I would love to sit around a camp fire, drink some shine and tell some war stories. Sadly, mine entail paper cuts and being frustrated by host country law enforcers.

We leave for Oz tomorrow (if you follow the thread). 10 days of Rest and Recuperation. Thanks for the airfare US tax payers. No worries. The $1400 you gave me pales in comparison to the millions we are hemorrhaging over here. s***, I just about spent a cool mil and a half on a building today and we just got the Armed Forces of the Philippines a bunch of new Bell helicopters.

What's new in Tennessee? I could have put in to be the next supervisor in Chattanooga and given my score and track record I bet I would have been picked up. NO THANKS! I just finished being the Country Attache' for three months. You can keep that boss s***!!!!
