Hi everyone,
I recently bid and won a set of used Toyota steel wheels which I believe were used on both the 70 and the 100 Series.
Set of 4 here:
Full photos from the seller here with one OEM photo (also not mine)
Toyota 42601-60611
From what I can tell with the photos provided, I think a little work to get rid of the rust, repaint or powdercoat, and I should be ahead of the OEM prices. I also like the idea of reusing.
Planning to use them for a second set of tires, probably winter tires.
A few questions:
For rust removal, I was thinking either a vinegar bath or Evaporust and then some work with a disc to sand down the rough edges.
I'm also going to look into sandblasting/mediablasting as I am also going to look into powdercoating prices. I know powdercoating is more durable and expensive.
Thanks in advance.

A few questions:
- Does anyone think that the wheels are beyond salvageable? I may take them to a local tire shop to have them balanced to see if any of them are really badly balanced. That way I won't waste time refurbishing them if they can't be balanced.

- Is there anything else that I am forgetting or should be considering?
Thanks in advance.
