normally I wouldn't start on something so bad but earlier this year i snapped the tube that the rear shocks attach to and ended up replacing the rear half of the frame. So was kinda committed .

Holy cow nice job! Makes my minor rust issues seem like they will be a piece of cake.

Thanks for the inspiration!

Mad skills! Good Job!

Nice pictures/welding and good luck with the oher side :p
The frame mounts dont like the heat of the welding and the white paste they used to make it waterproof> you get used to the smell after a few hours
Here is a pic you might recognize :D

So there is hope! I have similar rust and bondo issues and I'm trying to build up the tools, talent and courage necessary to tackle the job. I'm in the process of borrowing a welder, trying to source some replacement panels/ sheet metal and getting some practice. A couple of questions:
- What gauge steel are you using since it looks like you're cutting your own?
- How much time did it take you to do the rear quarter areas?
Keep up the great work and thank you for posting the progress. Now I need to get off my duff and get 'er done!

Ok so here is a question for all you welders... what gauge steel is being used most commonly... I am going to have a few spots that have to be replaced and I know ZERO about welding but willing to learn.
