so have it been decided when the group is going to get together in St Louie for hte meetings(not this trail ride) but for regular meetings?

I can probably manage a once or twice a month thing, every week though.

I think we will be meeting once a month and trips inbetween, I need to email everyone ( I have quite a few email address so far)
we need to pick a night that everyone is the most likely to be able to make it to.

I think a weekday evening would be perfect- like the first wednesday or thursday of the month?
I have talked to the people at Siebergs resturant about using their upstairs... it has a big screen we can watch our different trail rides/events on during meetings/dinner.

Maybe make april our first meeting?
I wll email everyone as well as make up a little flyer to hand out at the event to each person who shows....

dont forget to tell fellow Toyota owners about the group (chase em down if you have to- I just did!)
I think making a business type card with our info and a web address to Ih8mud.. specifically this page would be great to leave under someones windsheild wiper.

thoughts?

For those of you meeting in Fenton, off 44 and bowles, What time.
I am on the Irish Parade Committee and we have a bunch of BS to cover before the parade. I would like to meet you guys down in fenton before the meeting and see If I can get out to Flat Nasty after the Meeting around 2-3:00 and watch. I am still a LC off-road newbie. I took out my explorer and my brothers jeep alot, but nothing like this I'm sure. My truck is still Stock, but I am working on that. I would really like to come out and learn, especially before I start modyfying mine. Hopefully I can learn from the collective experiance's.
I appreciate the heads up!

make sure u guys bringing xtra cbs also bring an extra antenna (they wont work witout one) wiring one on the trail is easy- but I dont know how to wire a makeshift antenna.

I think I have a very old hand-held CB somewhere with battery and 12v power cord. I'm guessing this won't work well (if it still works at all). Any recommendations for a newbie? I'd be interested in both an installed and hand-held option since there is not much time to install something before the trip.

I do have an equally old magnetic mount whip antenna, any chance I could get by with this for Saturday?

If anyone can post up what rig they are bringing and trail mods (locked/tires/winch/lift) so we can get a general idea of how to divide up.

I'll be driving my '96 FZJ80. Not heavily modded, but it does have OME with 285 BFG A/T and a winch. Unfortunately, it looks like I may have to leave on the early side, but the drive down and a trail or two should still be worth the trip. I may look into going back to Flat Nasty for the April run.

It will only be for close range use on the trail so any old POS CB will work.

extremetoy......what time are you planing on arriving at FN? We will probably loose cell service at around Salem.

okay so I am going to make it down there at around 8:30 at the latest. ExtremeToy I will be in the old blue 60 series(my profile picture)....if i don't find you first.

I will have a good set of craftsman tools, a CB(no antanae) that someone can use, a cooler with some ice/sodas/lunchmeat. With spare room for someone else to use if they need.

*I can bring a small grill down if someone wants hamburgers/hot dogs/brat wurst etc. BRING WHAT YOU WANT AND I CAN COOK IT(i should have enough carcoal)

if there is any questions feel free to call me(Im on the list that was sent out a week or so ago)

Jeez, I just got home tonight and I haven't done anything to get ready. I'll make a run to the grocery store in a bit for lunch stuff, and I'll need to clean out the back of my 80 so I have room for other stuff. I'll through in the rachets and sockets and such, but I don't have any major automotive-specific tools. I better grab the winch gear also, just in case the minor rain leaves me (or someone else) stuck.

On the down side, my old POS cb is now DOA, and it sounds like there is no cell phone service at FN so I'm SOL. I know my nieghbor has several marine VHF radios, but I don't think they cover the CB band (too bad though, they range from 5 watts for the handheld to 25 watts for the hard-wired).

See you all tomorrow around 7:45 a.m. in St. Louis and whenever at FN!

Just a quick follow-up post.

I had a really great time even though I had to ditch early to get back on time. The first trail was "green 20" and the first climb made me think I was screwed if this was a green trail. In the end, my 80 had no problems other than my lack of driving experience and my constant concern about getting it scratched, dented, dinged, etc....

A ton of thanks to XT (Bryan) for leading the way and CONSTANTLY getting out to spot me in the tight turns - we made it back dirty but otherwise intact!

Great time, and I'll definately be going back.

Hey guys just found this thread and I'm from St. louis also. I have a 68 FJ40 that doesn't run as of yet and am still collecting parts for the build. I have a shared rig with a buddy( whats left of a Blazer) and we go to Flat Nasty pretty often it made Crawl Mag from the Hannibal event.
I would like to meet up with you guys some time here in town or on the trail. Our club has a run planned for the end of April at FN you can check on CapitalCityCrawlers.com for more info.

Hey all, I just found this thread, I am also in St. Louis. I have a '64 fj45lv. I don't know if anyone would be interested or not, but, I got an e-mail last week from the owner of bigfoot 4x4 (Bob Chandler), he's having a cruze at his shop (hwy 270 at lindberg) on April 27th from noon til 7:00. He asked if I wanted to stop by. I thought it might be an easy way for some other LC owners to meet and mix it up with the Ford guys. I don't really know any specifics about the event, but Bob is a really cool guy and it might make a nice informal meeting? Anyways, I will try to stop by after work if anyone else wants to swing by.
