Great Beginning!

To all that were there - thanks :) - especially Brian for setting it up. Great times, glad to have met some new friends.Looking forward to next month. And thanks for all the great insights and ideas for my 4R. Looking forward to that new bumper set. = tom

Birf party?

Not to hijack the thread, but have any of the St. Louis folks done the front axle service on the 80? I'm guessing Bryan has, but I haven't been able to reach him.

I'm thinking I may do mine this weekend and I just want to know who I can email/call if I get in a jam. Basically, the front pads need replacing and I have OEM 80 pads on hand but I also have a set of OEM 100 pads and new rotors so . . . . I was thinking about going with the new pads to see if there is much difference.

Maybe I'll just slip in the new 80 pads and wait for the rotor and 100 pads and the axle service until the end of the summer.

But I also have the SS lines (frame to axle and axle to caliper) from Slee sitting on the shelf so I'll be draining brake fluid anyway . . . tough call.

Sorry I missed the meeting - I apparently wasn't subscribed to this thread despite posting. Hopefully, this post will fix that.

I'd probably like to be added. I'll send you a message, Jester. I'm still in an extremely extended Toyota 4x4 shopping phase; but I might be interested in events way down the line.

I'm located in the Marion/Carbondale IL area, but St Louis is usually the closest we get to car club type groups (we are active in the St Louis Miata club).

I've had a 4x4 Taco, but most of my (limited) off-road experience has been in Jeeps. Don't worry, I've been a Toyota lunatic for a long time. :D

good times!!!

hey all great turnout last month, its here again (first thursday is the 7th) thanks to everyone who showed up.

Sybergs on gravois at 730 upstairs in the banquet room.

Yes Meischa I have done the birfs, let mew know- and sorry for not emailing you!!! I hope you can make it this thursday.

I updated my email list so if you didnt get one PM me so I can straighten it out.

I look forward to meeting some new faces thursday,

Bryan B

Well, I'm pretty sure I can be there but my 80 will not. My daughter will be leaving Wednesday to spend the next three months in northern Minnesota so the 80 will not be back until mid-August. We are heading to Flat Nasty tomorrow for some last minute father daughter wheeling. Nothing major though since we'll be going alone and my front axle will be waiting until the return in August for a rebuild.

I did get the front brake pads changed out (rotors are fine) and all 7 brake lines changed over to Slee SS lines. I also bolted up the Slee TC skid plate (though two of the three factory skid plate bolts broke and I could only get one to come out with drilling and extracting), and the AC dryer skid plate. Before she leaves, the 9011/9012 HIR bulbs should arrive and I'll put those in along with the Slee headlight harness and two slee aux lighting harnesses.

I'm hoping to also advance the timing some as it seems really sluggish off starts and in the low end, but I first need to get a timing light (and I don't want to spend $100 on one at autozone - you'd think that would be a prime item in their "rental" tools, but it is for purchase only).

As mentioned, I considered doing the full front axle service, but I discovered the need just this last Friday and there just isn't time to get it done right and I refuse to pay the dealer to do it.

So if I'm welcome in a non Toyota, I'll be there Thursday night!

Hey all, good to meet a few folks last night at the meeting. As far as a local group go, it looks like the ball is rolling and it's off to a good start. Brian, I am going to PM you my e-mail address just in case my hand writing last night wasn't clear.

Dave

July meeting?

Hey all. Is there a July meeting this week (first Thursday right?)?

I have two new members who are planning to attend - one has a 1980 FJ40 he just restored and the other is driving an FZJ80.

In regards to the monthly get together. I spoke to Brian a little while ago and he says we're on for Thursday 7/5 7:30 and Cybergs or Sybergs or whatever it is. Anyway, I don't know why he has not yet emailed everyone or posted but I guess he will at some point. Hope to see ya there!

Apparently Brian is having computer problems so he was unable to post or email anyone about tonights get together. I must appologize on his behalf. It is still on at 7:30pm at Sybergs upstairs in the banquet room. Hope to see everyone from the last two meetings there and there should be a few more newbies. See Ya!

Brian - thanks for keeping this going - and to all who showed up. One fo these day's we'll fill that room
FYI - despite all the discussions about headers for my 004R - NWR doesn't provide for anything newer than 96 - GEN 3 + will need to go to Downey. Downey spent about 20 min on the phone w/me explaining all issues and diferences with their header-crossover - 2 1/2" cat setup. just a bit over the
budget right now.
Looking forward to the 22nd - see ya in Potosi

Sounds like a trail ride to me! :grinpimp:

I'll start moving my calendar around - and I'd love some more details (where are we meeting for the drive down, where are we going exactly, who is bringing a CB ;) ).

Yes, it appears as if you HAVE updated your list.

Yes I did update my email list, and from the email you sent me you got all butt hurt:crybaby: over me using an email list you came into a thread I started and requested email addresses to add to your list with no intentions of emailing anyone concerning this group or meetings... so why did you ask for everyones email if you yourself dont plan on furthering this group whatsoever other than suggesting a name for the group (midwest Toyota syndicate?!) to everyone in emails??
Your email to me stated that I was trying to make this "my" group??!! WTF? well hey if you would show up to one of the meetings you can take the reins and make this your group, I simply started this and keep it going by having somewhere to have meetings and having different events, again you are now where to be found?!!
Get over yourself and show up to one of the meetings instead of sending out emails to people to meet for ice cream because there are going to be jeeps there and Toyotas need a presence.

many of the people on that list thanked me for keeping them in the loop and were not even aware we were having meetings. (you were invited too) why did you come into my thread and request everyone to email you their email address' when you were going to be worried about who is organizing it and have nothing to do with getting any of this going??
you live the closest to Sybergs and dont come....why not? hard feelings? ego problem?

For those of us who were planning on being there and couldn't make it at the last minute, what's going on in Potosi on the 22nd (of July?)?

We are going to the Mark Twain national forest to do a little 4wheeling and let some of the newbies in the group wet their tires a bit and do some light trails, stock rigs will do fine and their are by by-passes if anything is to difficult.

I am planning a trip to the Badlands in Attica Indiana the weekend of the 13-14 in october, I will be leaving friday afternoon or evening. I think Steve plans on going so far so I am letting everyone know early to pencil it in your schedules.

Welcome Dave and snapon, thanks for showing up- look forward to seeing you at future meetings

if anyone was offended by me emailing them from the list someone emailed me that jestermotorsports had started........ well get over it. I was just spreading the love:D
