If the starter is malfunctioning, would that also possibly cause the p0035 and dash light bonanza?

SQOD:

If I have a P0335, I assume the fix is just to go out and buy a new crank position sensor and plug it in? Got a "Check VSC system" warning and christmas lights all over the dash, paired with a no-start (Thankfully at home after a long day on the road)

{ninja edit re: mud search}

Please and thank you!

I would check the connector and wire. You can also clean the CPS.

but sounds like starter. FYI they have a small and large starter.. get the small one.

(the large wheel gear is a flex plate)

Ok - here's my SQOD - how do you remove the plastic retainers holding the rear wheel well liner/trim in place? The screws come out, but trim is still held in place. Time to work on my LRA - venting and pump upgrades.

Pry them out and have replacements ready. If you can get to them, you can squeeze the corners to release them.

Didn’t really want to dedicate a thread to this, but this service record came up in a ‘13 I’m looking at in Ohio. When corrosion has effected electrical, is that usually a domino effect from there on out or an anomaly?

"Open in wiring" to me means something chewed away at the wiring for the speed sensor that's why it got corroded.

If they only replaced that, then you don't have to worry about any water damage causing issues to the wiring that's inside the vehicle. If they had to do work on that harness there is potential that the windshield was replaced and installed incorrectly allowing water in, or sunroof drains blocked and dripping down there.

Since it was over a year and a half ago, if there are no further records of electrical work, it was probably an anomaly.

Ok I just bought a set of rock warriors and I’m gonna need tpms sensors for an lx. Do I just order regular ones for Lexus or does it need to be something special to fit the RW wheels? I only see Toyota part numbers on the rw sheet and I don’t think those work with Lexus.

If you have the originally installed aluminum wheels on your LX, then yes, that sensor will fit the Rock Warrior and work with your truck. So you can either move or order new, for whatever was originally fitted to your vehicle.

Cool. Thanks for the quick reply!!

Thank you guys for the responses.

It’s got a Pilkington windshield. I don’t think I’m going to roll the dice on this one.

Any simple fixes for this cracked front passenger speaker grill? From an initial search looks like you can’t just buy the grill, have to replace the entire panel. Maybe cover it with speaker cloth?

My driver mirror is toast. Stupid question: has anyone used an alibaba sourced replacement rebuild kit? At 100, it’s tempting.

Weird Carfax history on a 200 I'm looking at. Exported to Lithuania and then failed emissions when it came back to the US.

Thoughts?

I failed emissions once due to a 'silent' OBDII code. I failed emissions another time due to a dirty MAF sensor. I failed emissions another time because the shop noticed there were not cats on the car.

Lots of reasons - you'll have to dig more.

Guessing the Lithuania entry is someone punched in the wrong VIN when exporting a different cruiser. Makes no sense that it would go from Mableton > get exported from Los Angeles to Lithuania and then straight back to the same spot in Georgia in less than a years time.

What makes me think otherwise is that there are regular service entries except for the time span from between 9/2014 and 6/2018, but I can't understand why it would have to be annually registered in Georgia while the car was potentially overseas.
