Do any of you have this screw sticking out in the rear wheel wells on both sides?

Yup - both sides, front surface of rear wheel well.

Thanks, I was worried I was missing a nut or something.

Under the FAQ sticky, and here's the Tire DB link: 200 Series Tire and Wheel Size Database

While I'm thankful that it is accessible through the FAQ page, I do feel like it gets buried underneath the page of links. I think given that it's the first mod that most people perform, it would be easier to find to our newcomers. Just my $0.02

Speaking of tires and info... Has anyone ever found a good resource for REAL WORLD tire size measurement estimates?
-I realize that various factors impact street height, etc. such as wheel width (7.5 might push a wheel a bit taller than a 9.5)...but almost without fail...the sizes named by both manufacturers and vendors are significantly TALLER than they really are when mounted.

Anyone? I've looked. Very little found so far...

Have you looked at a specific manufacturers website for your answers? I know Toyo has overall sizes listed. I have also just called the customer support line (for X brand) and received the info I was looking for. Some list specifics and others do not.

Yes, but that's the problem. The sizes they list are almost never even close to mounted size.
For example: Toyo 285/75/70 is listed as 33.9"...but in reality? It's only about 32.5".
Another: My 285/70/17 KO2's list as 32.7, but on the truck sit just barely over 31.3. That's a pretty significant difference. So...manufacturer's measurements are not a very good indication for actual fitment height.

I bet if you asked nice MScruiser can start a new column on his spreadsheet. as a group we'd just need to submit a measurement of our true mounted tire dimensions

my toyo ATIIs in 285/75/17 measured at 33.5 when installed. I searched through many forums to find "True" tire sizes, and it seemed the Toyos and Nittos were the closest in actuality to advertised. There are so many variables that go into mounted size any number you post will be argued by a dozen others that get a different measurement for what ever various reason.

Perhaps, with a land cruiser only data base, some of the variables can be eliminated...there are only so many wheels that we run, the weight of the vehicles are pretty close (save for bumpers, sliders, drawers) and tire pressure can be called out in the measurement.

IE: Toyo ATIIs 285/75/17 on RW wheels at 39 psi. lifted truck no weight adders, 33.5" from ground to yardstick held level. when new.
attaching a photo of measurement would also help eliminate any doubt....

will be interesting to take measurements now with 8K miles to see if there is a difference.

just my 2 pesos...

All true and good points (Thanks for your Toyo measurements, my the way). I think what's frustrating is that when you are trying to buy based on clearance of UCA, mud flaps & etc. it would be nice to have number that are at least within a half inch or so. Some are wildly off.

About measurement... Perhaps it would be helpful to also measure left to right, rather than just height...since it's often the tight fit front and back that becomes the limitation. Measuring left to right would also help to eliminate the PSI variable. It would still change a little, but not as much as measuring bottom to top...since lower PSI will squash the bottom more than either side.

I do realize there is no perfect way to be absolutely accurate...but I do think it would help a lot to at least identify tires that tend to be well off their official mark. With very few exceptions, the mounted height is shorter than specs would indicate.

Need to find a vinyl hood blackout for the 200. Does anyone have one for sale yet?

Had a local sign and wrap shop do one for me. Used 3M matte black and did it with the knife-less tape in order to form the shape. Asked them to follow the lines of the hood on the sides of the 2 raised panels and at the front part of the hood. Could have done it a bit shorter and still covered the part that is viewable from the interior but wanted to follow the lines of the hood.

That's a great looking wrap on the hood. Knowing more or less zero about vinyl wrap, is it car wash resistant?

Steve

Yes, it is car wash resistant within reason. Don't hit the edges with a power washer. It is basically a big vinyl sticker. I believe they make some special cleaners for matte films but installer said to just wash by hand and don't put wax on the vinyl. He said that it should last 5 years given my truck is usually parked in a garage at home/work.

Ok, I found a tool that will lower my spare tire down...do I need to do any "mods" underneath to fit my new, larger BFG AT KO'2 275/75/18? I plan to take it to the tire shop tomorrow.

It should fit fine without mods.
