Ok I didn’t want to have the risk of a bad highway accident due to a faulty diy job, so opted not to replace the failed spring that caused my spare tire hoist/winch to break, but instead ordered an OEM one from local dealership. Install was super easy. It’s interesting how the design has changed a bit on the bracket at the end of the chain, that mates with the inner wheel.

seems like an expensive little spring, but would be much more expensive if I diy’ed it incorrectly. Kinda frustrating but oh well.

here’s a pic that may help someone one day, part number included. Did this on my ‘09 LX 570 and worked with an oem wheel.

Spare tire hoist spring???

so like a dummy, I was swapping some tires around and failed to stop spinning the crank when i felt resistance….
Long story short the spring has gotten stretched out and mangled, and I can’t seem to figure out where it would attach to…it must attach to something fixed/static

mine end was attach to the silver-ish arm, then it wrapped around the crank and I assume it attaches to something out of sight?

I placed the spring how it was positioned on the inside.

My stupid questions:
1) is this serviceable?
2) if so where does the spring attach and can anyone point me to a diagram of the inards/guts of this thing

btw this is a rust free vehicle, and it is easy to replace but would like to fix it and spend the hundred bucks on something more fun if I can.

Well I just went and looked and it functions perfectly. The 2018 is more of a lid that a door. I took the filter out and inspected everything and put it all back together. Now it works as it should on=on, off=off

????

My issue was the fan/blower was remaining on. Now seems to work correctly.

welp.

Does anyone happen to have part #s for the plastic splash guards ("fender apron") for the driver's side front tire to go between the wheel well and the engine bay? I noticed mine are missing on that side. I'm thinking the mechanic removed them when doing the front diff work or CV re-boot. epc-data.com shows 4 parts but 3 different part numbers, and I'm not sure which one(s) I need.

Those you can get from the dealer really cheep. or for about 25% off dealer price search online with the part number you get from the dealer.

This ⬆️ - I got a handful from my local dealer. I'd send you a couple, but the cost in shipping/time would be more than what it's worth.

Looking at things like this and trying to decide on future mods. Leaning toward bumper trimming rather than a steel bumper.
For those who are running either bumpers or have modified yours, have you monitored transmission temps before and after?

It cant be that good to restrict so much air flow to the lower transmission cooler can it? Is it restrictive at all or am i making things up?

Thanks for entertaining my SQ. Props for whoevers LX this is.

I noticed very minor transmission temp changes when I changed to a steel bumper. I saw a much more significant increase from swapping to 4.88 gears. YMMV depending on the bumper of course.

Is it a cupholder insert? Doesn't look like the one in my LX, but looks sort of similar.
