Charles, did you notice any improvement in the suspensions ride with the greasable shackle pins?

Lou

I don't know if the ride is much better but it doesn't squeak. Down here in Guatemala most of the vehicles squeak doing down the road because of the dried out suspension bushings and the potholed roads.

we did install greasable shackle pins on our fj 60 and subjectively the ride improved; was wondering if anyone had the same experience with their pig......MAF is out of the rear greasable pin shackles...Charles...by the way this is a nice time of year to go up to Antigua....hope they repaired the road ...it was awful............no wonder suspension things squeeked there; it was hell on suspensions;

shackles

The biggest difference I noticed is the lack of squeaking. The MAF shackles added about 1/2" height over the old shackle, too.

If MAF is out, CCOT has the same shackles.

They are doing a bunch of work at the junction of Roosevelt and SanCristobal Blvd. putting in a new interchange. I haven't been to Antigua since we've been back but I hear the road up from Guatemala to San Lucas has been repaved.

Last year when I went over the truck I noticed that one of the shackles was beat so bad on the '60 that the pin had enlarged it's hole by 2! It was only on the truck about 3 years by that point. It could have been bad metal in the shackle but the roads certainly didn't help.

went ahead and ordered rear Alcans.........along with greasable shackles from MAF, ...........the greasable shackles were not bad at around 20$each but the Alcans :crybaby: will let y'all know how they work

ive been runnin ironman springs from SOR in SOA config for about 5 yrs now, they have settled in very well and flex like mad. i am happy with them but will prolly be getting new alcans for the rear soon for a little more load carry cpacity and the fact that its custom to what i want.

Jeffrey, I spoke with Charles & Tom; gave them a lot of details of our intended usage; mods/cargo/wheels, lift, tools and weight carried; they went very much in depth on individuality of each vehicle, the price per spring+ bushing was
220 $ and goes from unmodified to 6 inches of lift............I thought it was a bargain to have a spring custom designed for OUR pig and not get a generic set........everyone uses their pig in different ways; ours is a family camper type of use with 4 kids and one still in diapers..... the roughest it will see is a potholy logging trail or a gravely state park road when we go camping...........the individual design sold alcans for me!!!the beauty of the pig is that it can seat 6 people legally for a short period of time and still haul a ton of camping gear........w/o the price tag of lets say a 4wd Sequoia

Many moons ago, back before the SOA...when my rear was sagging....I looked up "blacksmith" in the phonebook, and found the shop that would re-arch my springs. I paid them to add a leaf, they had enough steel left over for another little leaf. Drove it that way for years, really carried a load. Works pretty well sprung-over, too. Problem is, it cost about the same as Alcans. And you can sell your stockers to a 40 owner when you're done.

Alcans are 220$ each custom made for your use!; damn after shopping around and comparing prices thought it a bargain specially after the guys that have a lot of experience with them give them all high 5s, can't wait to get them in my sweaty paws!
