Jonathan, do you remember MAD magazine? Volkswagon ran an add that showed a picture of a bug floating with the caption that if ted kennedy had been driving a volkswagon he would have been president.. I really miss those days. Veggies are cranking I bet half the people reading this won't have a clue what the ad was referring to lol.

Pretty sure I've seen that ad somewhere! I've looked at a lot of old VW literature though.

EDIT: Here it is, apparently wasn't a genuine VW ad but rather a spoof ad in National Lampoon's 1973 Encyclopedia of Humor. It's publication landed them a $30 million lawsuit from VW.

wow, it was over 50 years ago. couldn't remember if it was mad or lampoon both were great parody rags. seems like they issued an apology and retraction that was also great, lawsuit may have been dropped after that i don't remember. only thing i do remember is teddy never filed suit against them lol.
