I need a set of plug wires for my '95 Toyota 4X4 pick-up. It has The 3.0 V6. It uses the small(narrow-thin) plug wires. I was told by the guys at the local Toyota dealer that I should only buy Toyota plug wires because the off brands have been known to throw off the timing. This doesn't make much sense to me but I thought I would check here to see if anyone has experience with this. Is this just a line to get me to use genuine Toyota parts.:hhmm:

Oh by the way the Toyota wires are $90 and the ones from the parts store are $34.

LC Engineering sells nice looms and wires but they aren't cheap either. I don't think you need Toyota OEM although they are very good wires as well. (I realize that the photo is a 22RE but you get the idea.)

Do they make a loom for the 3.slow? I will agree, the Magnecor wires are super sweet. Love mine. Magnecor catalogs them for the 3.0.

unless you have a high compression engine running 92 octane, with a super hot AFTMKT ignition, and a radical cam, with a stroke and bore on the bottom end, using these racing wires will do nothing but waste your money

I disagree. If you have a header that is in proximity to the wires, you are better off with the Magnecore. The factory wires will not last with the heat.

I've always run the cheapest spare plug wires on my 22re ($10 for a set on my engine). Once in a blue moon the coil wire will fall off.

I'd run the NGK's or whatever else, and not worry about it.

Sparky

Have to disagree with the stock toy folks here.

My MSD 7mm wires are the only thing that has given me a HP boost, and a mileage increase when I bought mine.

Wont fit in the wire harness tho....

You might want to do the fuse box wire upgrade too...

Jesus christ people these are spark plug wires your bickering about. The original question had to do with timing differences in after market wires.

No after market wires will not change your timing. Maybe really super crappy wires will, but brands like ngk and many others are perfectly fine.
