If anybody has a part number for this hose, would be much appreciated. Runs from the heater valve to the head.

Walk into the parts store and ask to go in the back and look at all the hoses, grab whatever is close. That one started pissing as I drove through Gunnison, Colorado a few years ago. Napa saved me.

The one behind it that goes down into the firewall catastrophically exploded on me while doing 65mph in Poncha Springs a while back too. May as well replace that one while you’re in there - it’s much easier at home without cars whizzing by at highway speeds.

I’ve heard the main hose I’m looking for is NLA so I’ll have to find an alternative, which is okay. I just need to make it TO the part store ☠️

The other hose you mentioned, what about that one? Is an OEM option still available or nah?

Thanks

There is an incredible thread that outlines all the hose part #s and NLA equivalents for the fj62 3FE motor. Not sure if someone has done that for the 60, would be a huge benefit to the community. Search around, maybe it’s here somewhere.
I just ordered over $300 worth of little hoses for my 62, some are original and fear what you just experienced.

Since you mentioned that hose that goes into the firewall, I’m assuming you mean this one that I have pictured (or the other I have pictured). But yeah, I’m going to replace all of them. I’m even going to do the one that comes off of the tstat; I’m not sure what part it connects to, but it’s underneath the cluster of the dizzy, oil filter, fuel pump, etc.

But in the meantime, I patched the hose that split with my leftover RTV in case I decide to drive again.

Went to the parts store this morning and bought a new heater hose. Got that fixed up.

I believe I have found the source of my woes…

I did some looking around under the hood where I saw most of the coolant’s concentration and took the cap off of the reservoir. The photo I have here is after an initial digging out of some sediment that was in there. It was enough in there to restrict an adequate flow, but I’ll need to do a more thorough clean.

So far, so fun.

Changed out the rest of my 5/8 heater hoses over the weekend. The only one(s) I left (because I wasn’t sure how to even begin getting it off; there’s a different hose clamp on there and I may have to take a pair of bolt cutters to it) was the hose that goes into the firewall on the driver side, and the hose that runs from the oil cooler towards the front of the engine. I’m gonna get to that one.

As for TODAY: New fuel pump. Surprisingly simple procedure. No new fuel lines at the moment, but will do those in the future. Did not reuse old insulator as I noticed some hairline cracks in it.

Also today (part 2): New bulbs for all of my tail lights. I bought new gaskets from City Racer; and I’ll also be buying some new lenses somewhere down the road.

I don't know if it's because the air cleaner is off, but the two nipples on the distributor cap are open, as well as the 'T' on the PCV line - If those are open when normally running, it's sucking unfiltered air into the engine, plus it's not clearing ionized air from the distributor which can lead to bad corrosion of the metal parts.

…I actually did not know that about those two nipples on the Dizzy. I always wondered if those were supposed to be closed off or open. Anything special I need to close them off? I may have to take the cap off too, just to take a look. I have a new cap (as far as I’m aware it’s new) and the PO put a new rotor in.

Also, yes, the PCV valve T is open because the air cleaner is off. 👍🏾

Don't close them off, they need to be plumbed in with the valve under the air cleaner that goes to the T on the PCV line so the dizzy can breathe. There's a diagram in the Emissions FSM how it's hooked up.

# 70 is a small filter on the inside firewall passenger side that sticks its nipple thru the firewall

Funny that you mention that about #70. I actually don’t see that nipple you’re referring to. 😅

@Spike Strip

Better photo of the underside of my air cleaner. The “larger” hose was always connected to the T that comes off of the engine.

I see!
Dude, look at how mine is connected! 🤨
Somebody connected it to this hose that leads all the way back to the EGR and everything.

Yeah, that's all messed up. Gonna need to study the study the Emissions vac hose diagram in the manual and check them. Not uncommon for them to be wrong.

I think that smaller hose was supposed to go the outer nipple on the dissy vac advance, but not sure.

The hose from the firewall goes to the larger nipple on the dissy cap.

I’ve printed out the ESM so I readily have it on standby. I was originally looking through it because eventually I’m gonna do a desmog.

Thank you nonetheless, and I’ll get to it. I can simply route the larger hose to the dizzy, no worry. Definitely will have to find out about the smaller one. It doesn’t quite reach the outter nipple on the vac advance, BUT it could be that it’s simply the wrong hose. And thankfully I have quite a few new ones on-hand.

I believe I had the dizzy vac advances hooked up properly; I just had the vac hoses disconnected and out of the way while I was doing other things over there. But I will need to find the proper hose for that nipple on the dizzy cap.
