Does anyone know where I can source a new carb intermediate block/insulator? The plastic piece that goes in between the upper fuel bowl and lower throttle plate assemblies.

I've mangled mine and ruined the factory permanent gaskets because I'm not so bright.

The NAPA rebuild kit comes with the paper gaskets that go on either side of that block..takes a bit to figure out exactly how they fit. There are carbs listed in the classifieds pretty often if that block is too mangled.

Both? I didn't look very closely once I identified the problem - when I rebuilt the carb I did some sanding on that piece to try to get it smooth again. Had some concerns about getting it flat again but thought I got it good enough, guess not.

hit up @mtnphilosopher ...I just sent him my spare throttlebody for his butterfly flap, and it had this piece on it. Maybe you guys could work something out...

I have a used carb insulator plate I bought off a mud member for $40, I ended up buying a new one for $90. I can sell it for what I bought it for plus shipping if you want.
Feel free to email me at jayredwood@gmail.com and I can shoot you some pictures.

This is not the carb insulator. Here's the piece I'm looking for.

He needs the insulator block that goes BETWEEN the throttle body and the float bowl.

How buggered is yours? Can't you sand it flat? Then use new gaskets?

Place a sheet of very fine sand paper on a FLAT surface and gently make flat. Use gaskets from kit. If you want to bond them to the insulator, use some fuel proof (resistant) testors model paint or such.

FWIW, this is why I ALWAYS recommend people send their carbs to either Jim C. or Mark Algazy. Best $300 you can spend on a cruiser.

So....I used that exact method to re-flatten it when it was off the last time, and it appears to have not worked.

Might try it again, but I've removed a significant amount of material at this point so I dunno how it's gonna go.

might have removed too much material...did you reach out to mtnphilosopher?

Sorry so late to the game, but I have that spare insulator that goes between the TB and float bowl (thanks to Lambcrusher).

If I'm understanding your dilemma correctly, the little portion of the insulator that corresponds to the float bowl channel is missing?

Disirregardless, the insulator is yours, if you need it. Just let me know where you need it sent.

On its way, so now I can hijack?
Are there are supposed to be gaskets on both sides of this insulator midplate thing?
I rebuilt a couple of years ago, but didn't see any when I pulled mine off recently.
The one from Lambcrusher that I'm sending your way has both gaskets, but wanna make sure.

Also, since I'm hijacking, is this an intact "gasket"? It's metal, and I can't for the life of me remember if this is the correct piece:

Ooops -- forgot to check back on this thread.

I was asking (poorly) two separate questions about two separate carb parts:

1) does the insulator block take a gasket on both sides?
2) does that pic of the slow cut valve appear to have the correct "gasket" in it (#74 on the parts list above)?

I was trying to determine if I needed to just get a particular gasket or two instead of the entire rebuild kit. I've been revisiting PinHead's excellent rebuild videos, and figure I'll just order another rebuild kit, even though I probably only need a gasket or two for the insulator block.

@mattcheston did you get the insulator block I sent?

I can answer question 2 regarding the slowcut. It should have a gasket shaped like a number 8; looks like you have it but hard to see pix due to a shadow I think. There was one in my rebuild kit from CruiserOutfitters.
