At 1:17 “valves are pre-adjusted to a valve cold setting.” Anyone know what that is, I only see warm/hot setting numbers in the F engine repair manual. Also, is there a “cold setting” for checking cylinder pressures?

Thanks!

Set them at .008" intake and .014" exhaust cold.

And then adjust them when the engine is up to operating temperature.
Exactly! I cold adjusted the valves in my '84 FJ60 to those numbers back in September. Got back to my place in Nevada again last week and was able to get it running after diagnosing/correcting a fuel delivery issue. The 2F purrs like a kitten (new fuel pump, new spark plugs, rebuilt carburetor, and fresh gasoline) at those settings. Ran out of time before having to head back to New Mexico, but will adjust warm when I'm back out there early next year.
