I'll be going to Big Pine Flat in a couple of weeks with the OAUSA group and will report how it goes with a large group for Field Day 2012.

Perhaps we can throw out some dates, take a vote and then land on a solid date for the trip? From what i am reading, it appears we are all leaning toward a overnighter in the SB mountains....If we can agree on a date and a general location, we can figure out the specifics later. (Just my 2 cents). On a side note there is always Crab Flats which is close to Deep Creek and good fishing up at Green Valley Lake. Crab Flats wouldnt be my first choice either but it is close enough for a day trip for those that can not do an overnighter yet still provides some OK wheeling nearby, fishing, etc, etc....

Is this it?

Horse Springs Campground

It's the only one I could find called Horse...something, off of 4N16.

If that's the one, it's not free, It's $10 per night per site. It has 11 sites, 2 vehicles and 8 people max per site.

There is always this option too...

Big Pine Flat Equestrian Group Campground

It's $85 a night, and will accomodate 15 vehicles and 25 people.

It is the only one up there that will accomodate more than 8 vehicles.

Yeah, that't the one. The only camps up their that are free are the Yellow Post camps and you are limited to 8 people and 2 vehicles. With Horse Springs people are on their own and can stay as long as they want and the fees are on them. It will hold up to 22 vehicles although a second vehicle in a camp is $5 more. I think it's good because no one has to be the bank and we are very secluded and won't have a bunch of ATV's around us kicking up dust and starting their engines at 6:00 in the morning. Plus you are away from the shooting ranges which start up at 7:00 AM! :bang:

I'm definitely in, just before July 21st. Got a baby coming and not sure when I'll be able to break away after that.

Baby born a few days ago. Set the day and I'll ask the Mrs. if its cool I'll be taking my 3 yr old daughter. Maybe I'll get dirt on my tires.

Congrats!

Sweet Scott's in so now where is Mo and Boyd?

Doubt Boyd will be able to do any weekend - He's been working Wed-Sunday lately and this is his busy season, so I doubt he'll have any time off during the summer.

Hello Mo???

So I just got the wife and the two kids to commit to the meet and greet (kids were always in). She is also open to learning how to wheel the rig, sweet! This will be fun, thinking Holcomb Creek will be a great starter trail.

Anything Big Bear is good for me.

Sorry, been busy to check the thread.. but glad to see it's going crazy.

I was going to mention Juniper Springs group camp, as it's the perfect place... but were only allowed 40 people and 8 rigs! 8!....

Lets try setting a date first.

How about last weekend in August?
