Ok, it's been too dang long since we've done one of these!!!!

I was camping with SOCAL80 (Sean) over the weekend and we both brought it up.

Where? and When?

Winter in the Desert? This summer in the Mountains?

Camping? Overnight somewhere?

Or just a Day trip? Im game for even an afternoon BBQ at a park again.

Lets throw some ideas out there.

I can't believe the last one was in 2009!!!

The Adventure Duo: SoCal80's Meet and Greet

Let's do this everyone! It will be great to see everyone again and all the new members!

Great idea! :)
I vote for a mountain overnighter.

I agree - a mountain overnighter would be great.

We'd probably get a lot more participants if we did a short run locally and a BBQ somewhere as a day trip like last time. Perhaps a run up to Santiago Peak from Corona to Ortega down back thru Caspers or Wildomar for a late afternoon BBQ? There's probably enough room somewhere on top of Santiago to do a BBQ up there, but it's been a LONG time since I was up there.

I vote for a camp out and just came across a cool half mountain half desert camping spot that was completely open even on a holiday weekend. It was called Horse Pegs camp off of 4N16 North of Big Pine flats camp. Those with trailers can get to it, while their it has easy and hard core trails for all tastes and experience levels.

I forgot to mention that you do a water crossing to get to it!

Sounds like a great time! I am down for this. Brent, how many fit at Kasper's group camp site?

2009 MG - I remember bringing my Mitsubishi Montero Sport to the gathering. Late for the "offroading" part but had a good time playing bocce.

Somewhere cool, temperature wise, is my only requirement. Starting to get hot in the valleys.

Depending on which weekend I am down for an overnighter. My summer dates are filling up quickly.

Right now I am booked up for June 22-24 and the week of Sept 22-30.

Sounds promising.....

x2 Yea I'm in too! Overnight camping sounds like a great idea. Most places will be getting pretty hot now. Could do somewhere in the mountain which may be slightly cooler.

I'm in, spent the holiday weekend pulling the 80 out of mothballs. Braden will be in too, he just got a new 2012 JK so I know he's down for it.

I'm in! Trailer is almost ready too!

2009 was fun, bocce ball was great.

Depending on the dates, my wife and I should be OK.

No clue on group sites at Caspers Regional park. There's also Bluebird at the south end of the ridge route.

Liking Mark's idea as Caspers and Bluebird would require fees, not that we shouldn't support our local state and county park systems!

BTW - we did have a very poorly attended M&G in May, 2010 up in Coyote Canyon. Let's make this one better attended gang!

Is this it?

Horse Springs Campground

It's the only one I could find called Horse...something, off of 4N16.

If that's the one, it's not free, It's $10 per night per site. It has 11 sites, 2 vehicles and 8 people max per site.

There is always this option too...

Big Pine Flat Equestrian Group Campground

It's $85 a night, and will accomodate 15 vehicles and 25 people.

It is the only one up there that will accomodate more than 8 vehicles.

Dave,
How bout the group campsite we did in Big bear last year? Seemed like it could handle a big group.
