It's funny that in the photos when I was looking at it for purchase I liked it since I hadn't seen one here in that color. Then I get it home and its almost a perfect match to my 80. It was then I realized a may be a bit dorkier then I thought!

Simply perfect...

At least you have nice weather for it. I did front rotors and pads on the Challenger yesterday afternoon in a t-shirt in ABQ.

Got the rest torn down this afternoon, probably taking a bit longer then most to do it, but there is lots of cleaning to do. Should have bought a parts washer!

Corrosion is hiding around ever turn!

The last guy didn't seem to have a seal puller and/or setter...

See the score marks^

Keep at it. Looks good.

Man today was ruff! Plan was to finish the passenger side today and all was well till I found the flare nut from the brake tube that goes across the axle to the rubber flex line was a bit rounded. Well long story short I could not brake the flare nut free, I soaked it in PB then tried heat, multiple wrenches and nothing. So since the flex line was in rough shape I cut that and removed the hole brake tube, and used a vice and vice grips to get it off. Not fun.

So my question to you guys is do I try and get a whole new brake tube, or is it possible to cut the tube, get a new inverted flare nut, and re flare the tube? I figure it will only shorten it by with of the flare, so fitment should still be OK, I think. But if a new line is easy to source I think that will be best. Just throwing out some ideas here.

Oh then as I was finishing up the hub I broke this...

Using a nut driver of all things. So I need one of these now also.
Got some calls to make on Monday...

looking at the picture you probably don't have enough room to do a new double flare (I am not sure if the 70s use a double flare or a bubble, the bubble curves out and the double flare curves in).

you need a metric version of this to flare a new end

for some reason my first flare never works, I always have to cut it off and do a second

Just measure the diameter and buy a new length of Metric tubing and bend a new one up, its really easy and probably 10 bucks

That's what I was afraid of, not enough space with the bend right there.

I got on toyodiy to try and see if the part number for the brake tube cross referenced any NA models, but not sure witch tube it is. They list front brake tube 1, 2, or 3 and then the flexible ones.

Any insight on this? Are they numbered as they come off the frame? So then I my need 2 or 3? FSM doesn't say and haven't found a good parts diagram.

I know I could just call Dan or contact Jan but I figure I'd try and figure this one out, and try and learn some of the tricks to finding JDM parts.

Good looking truck. I'd suggest getting steps or rock-sliders fitted to protect the under side of the doors. Wet grit will get thrown up by the front wheels and get lodged between door rubber and body sill and damage paint work and start to rust the doors.
Thanks for the photos. Toured the Land of Enchantment back in Sept '92, some of the best sunsets I have ever seen.

Yea some type of rocker protection is on the "to do" list, but it may be a little late for eating away the door seal, but now that the trucks in dryer climate it should slow things down a bit. I'm glad you enjoyed New Mexico! I know I biased but I agree best sunsets around!
