So I want an FJ 40 but...

How would you feel about a 48 year-old apprentice?

I can't say intern. Bill and Monica put a stain on that name.

How about a 30 year old that asks too many questions and will be in your way all the time?

I have
Don't short yourself, Drew. Add self-awareness to the list.

Looks good Chris. The baby powder trick is my favorite.

You can imagine the looks I get at 6'2" 215 lbs at the store with 10, 10 packs of painters tape, 10 rolls of reinforced duck tape and 10-15 containers of baby powder.

This actually happened once,

Attractive cashier:"This looks like an interesting time."

Me: "Yea, it's going to be a long night." Because I had a part at the house I was taping up.

Attractive cashier:looks at my wife, "that sounds like a lot of fun."

Me: realizing what she is happening,"Hell, it could be!"

Attractive cashier: Smiles

Me: smiles

Wife: hits me in the head with one 10 pack of tape.

Besides, when I have a question about engines and transmissions etc I call Pat Holand.

Pat is a gear...

I'm sorry for the delay, I have been mocking up and building my dash, which is similar to the stock. Also we have been slammed at the shop...

Any updates on this project??

So I had some time today, a few hours, to work on the FJ 40. I figured I needed to get the dash done so I could continue forward to the cowl. So what I did was took a rough paper pattern of a 40 than I have in the shop right now and take it to my digitizer and traced that out so I could basically make a fixture so I can mark my bead lines quickly and not have to draw it out manually. I know this is bad but I really have been dreading making this dash because of the shape it was. I knew that it would take some time and a lot of layout. However I was incorrect and it only took me about three hours to make this dash from scratch never have done this particular dash before.

Yes, I am admitting that I delayed this project just a bit because of this dash. Now that this is done I will attach the a pillar's and go ahead and finish the cowl. Maybe tomorrow...

So I have a question, would there be a reason to build the frame like then FJ40 frame, lengthened, or make it completely different? Is there any advantage making it about the same shape as the stock?
