Ordered one for the 100 today. Not sure when it's going to get to my door, but it may be a while. Total was $166.46. Can't wait to see it and regret buying it. The :princess: is going to chop my man fruit off.

Sorry for the late and crappy pics from cell phone, finally got a chance to visit pops.. Here's some pics of the safari and ebay snorkel:
P.s. , my dad made this purchase. I support ARB 100% for all their quality products and all they've done for the off road community in general. But I also support anyone trying to save a dime or two when on a limited budget. To each his own..

Is it wrong that I actually like the looks of the Ebay version more?? :o

I have to go outside again and verify, but I think from the looks of the pics that the texture differs from the two? I will confirm..

I'm about to do mine - it's a really nice day here. Any indication that there's any difference between the two snorkels?

bro, they look identical to me . I haven't really starred at both for any longer than a couple mins. , but besides from the obvious no badging on snorkel itself, their pretty much spot on.

Just validates my hypothesis that they are the same thing. Who creates an industry to generate inferior knock offs of 4x4 snorkels? And then sells them really cheap? If you're going to do knock offs, leave the name on and charge full price. I read the Safari disclaimer and it reads like a well crafted bunch of hogwash, to use a legal "term of art".

I think there must be some international law/treaty involved which explains why these come from Malaysia and not China, but I'm not going to investigate that. Must have to do with some combination of binding laws over Australia, China, U.S., and Malaysia.

Well, it is what it is. A $380 snorkel for $160 in my case. Ethical or strategic 4x4 thoughts aside, unless the WTO comes knocking to reclaim my snorkel, I'm gonna put it on and enjoy it.

My opinion is that Safari/ARB did not lose a sale in my case because I would not have paid $380 for a plastic tube that isn't essential for my activities. And, ARB has enjoyed a few deposits in their account on my behalf in the past so I don't think they're going to go out of business on a few dozen eBay snorkels.

If you watch the video you'll see that he had many issues. It's an older video with an older template from what I can tell, and he doesn't seem to have that little side light at the rear of his fender which is key to lining up the template. Mine looks great and the other guy who just got one said it worked fine too.

Here are the links to my pics of the template on my photo site. If you go to the right side of the pic you can choose the size. "Original" size really blows it up.

There are 5 pics. They are numbered 193-197.

Cruiser stuff, build process

Okay, okay. I'll have some good install pics up in a few hours. Hold on to them horses!

Even the Safari template has been a little off with the bolt holes.

Post some pics and your thoughts on it in the 100 section when you get it.

I'll do a thread on it. Should be on next Saturday assuming it gets here by then and I have enough booze in my system to saw a hole in my truck. All kidding aside, I can't wait!

Thanks for the links! They will be good dinner reading material later

Yep.

In the middle of mine right now. All I can say is do your best to eyeball the snorkel in comparison with the template. I think my template was correct and I didn't trust it. I've got a small disaster right now. Heading to the hardware store for jigsaw blades. :whoops: :bang:

So if you went back in time...would you trust the template? Sorry to hear about the troubles.
