Yessss!!!

Finally finished the job! There was more to it than I realized, but that's okay. I was actually able to get all 6 studs secured and tightened. That last one was a fingertip dance but it worked. If I'd removed the power antenna motor that would have made the rear studs a breeze. As it was, I did remove many things, including the hood, which was a learning experience getting it back on.

Got the three A-pillar holes drilled just right and screwing the bracket to the snorkel was no problem. One thing, the lower of the three rivet holes had something in the way below the sheet metal. Something in the pillar. Thankfully, my 'Mud buddy 41Magsnub loaned me a big bag of rivets with his rivet gun. I ended up using a slightly fatter and shorter rivet on the bottom hole.

Everything fits tight, right, and looks great. No visible hole below the snorkel even though I really screwed that part up initially.

Totally a great deal for $160 +/- and we're really happy. Nothing about it seems remotely 2nd rate or shoddy.

Thanks guys!

Looks great BR. What are some thoughts on sanding the oval down, priming and color match painting it? Would it hold up? Or, what about taking it and getting it Line-X'd?

The fit looks nice on your truck.

I think it fits just about perfectly. The only difference between mine and most is that my surface texture is a little thicker than most. However, since my vehicle is bedlined, it makes it look even more appropriate. Or another way to say that is the snorkel really blends in.

As for sanding down the oval, I'm not sure. If you have a lot of sanding experience I guess why not? Never occurred to me. I could see someone painting it to match their vehicle, but that's off in a different direction than I can wrap my head around at the moment. I covered my whole vehicle in $100 worth of Herculiner. I considered slapping Herculiner or their UV Topcoat on this, but ended up not bothering. I could still apply it down the road if need be.

I think these snorkels are designed to be durable as simple bolt-ons. Seems good enough for me. It would sure be interesting to see someone go custom with their snorkel color though.

Here's the straight on:

Pulled the trigger last night for one on Ebay for $155. I'll post pics when it arrives and i get it mounted up.

[here is my conversation with the :princess: about the snorkel]

:zilla:- "Hey babe, i found a snorkel on ebay for $155 shipped."
:princess:- "Can't it wait until you finish the drawer system?"
:zilla:- "well they're normally close to $400 so this is a deal"
:princess:- "why is this one so cheap?"
:zilla:- "it's not labeled. It could be from the same plant that makes them for Safari, a few guys on Mud have bought these same ones and said they can't tell the difference between the 2 models besides the lack of "Safari" stamped into it"
:princess:- "so this one has no markings?"
:zilla:- "nope"
:princess:- "can we make it say "Snuba" somehow?" (my :princess: has called them that since she saw them at SnT. She has a Scuba license so i let it slide, because she's cute and i think it's funny!)
:zilla:- "you got it babe!"

THANKS MUDDERS!

That oval is crying out for some sort of decal.

eBay snorkel mounted on a 100. Seems to be a different manufacture than the 80's. The Safari snorkel black oval is not on this one. Seems to be a true authentic rip off of the Safari.

2000UZJ - the fit of that snorkel is very good. Seems to match the lines perfectly.

Good job

Of course! I'll take orders when i get mine in so i can show y'all how it looks.

Sounds good.. cant wait to see your sticker..

:hhmm:or Template that would allow us to spray on a logo??

98- your part # is the same as mine, except mine is 100NA instead of 80AA. Can you take some pictures of the 80 series seams? The 100 series snorkel seems arent the best. Wondering if the 80's are the same.

I'm not clear on what that cone shaped top does. I can see how it might keep some rain out or something, but otherwise it just looks like it would let less air through. And the air might be spinning down the tube, but wouldn't the air filter disrupt that? Just curious because I'll get one if there's an advantage. I don't live in a very rainy place.

I'll try to get more shots tomorrow

It spins water and dust particles out of the incoming air before sending it down the chute

Although, my main reason for going with the hat is because of rotten neighborhood kids with a garden hose or super soaker using it as a target :o
