Great job! Who is "us?"

Buddy, the guy who went on the Bienville Ride with me and a friend of mine who lives in Shalimar. Scott's dad has been restoring cars for 20+ years. They have a huge garage in their back yard. they are currently working on a 61 Corvair and a Model T.

Will get a few pics of at lunch today. Planning on doing a write up on the install.

After driving it back from Destin yesterday, I have to say there is a noticeable increase in available power, especially up around 65-75.

The first pic is the driver side with the OEM manifold off. the second one is the DS header and the third is the PS header.

While we were at it, I decided to remove the fender flares. I was concerned that they would be damage. Turns out the damage is very light. I do have some paint work to do but nothing else really. Lots of dirt behind them though...

Finally, here is a pic from the day I bought it to today. Bought it a year ago in January. Only real mod I have left to do now is a set of sliders.

Looks much better without the flares IMO

I agree completely. I just wasn't sure how it was going to look underneath since they had been on for 10 years. that's why I waited so long to take them off.

I bought a 98 LC in Tupelo (1 of 3 new cars I've ever had), and I told them I wouldn't drive it off the lot until they (a) removed the running boards, and (b) removed the add-a-flares!

Yep, they look SOOOOOOO much better in their "fit" form!

You could go either way with the flares. the tires look much bigger with out em though.

I agree. No flares look great.

How difficult was the header job?
Do you think you could have done it without all the help?

thanks.

I don't think the header job was difficult really. it is time consuming and tedious though. I personally could not have done it without help. From your 62 thread, I think you probably have the knowledge to do it yourself.

The limiting factors are the correct equipment, if your truck has any corrosion, and patience. I don't possess any patience. I also didn't have all the tools necessary to complete the job. Lots of wobble extensions and u joint extensions are needed because the amount of work space is so limited. Plus you need multiple jack stands and a good floor jack.

Ron (Papalud) and I split the shipping on some Metattech sliders that were on sale. DNP was nice enough to let us ship them to his shop. They arrived about a week or so ago. I also used the shop to put mine on this weekend.

I must say that they are very stout. They weigh about 75 a side. They are much different than any others I have seen on the market. I narrowed my choices down to the White Knuckle ones and the MT ones. The MT ones are more like step sliders than true sliders. This was what I wanted though.

I took some pics of them before i installed them so you could see how they were designed. I will be happy to post more pics if anyone wants a different angle.
