After a few months of searching the entire southeast, I finally found my new "old" Land Cruiser. Turns out if came from Hernando MS where the second owner purchased it from the original owner who lived in Memphis. It was well cared for. It is a 2000 with 139K miles. Has not had the timing belt or water pump done yet but is scheduled for next week.

I am going through the interior now and conditioning the leather and doing a thorough detail. Very excited to be a LC owner!!

Hope to meet some of you who live in the Jackson area at the next meeting.

Attaching a few photos of what it looks like now...

Welcome to the club.

Euclid will be glad to help you get rid of those running boards, just ask Spivey.

It's never Euclid's fault. Euclid has never led anyone astray. Euclid is a great spotter, just ask Euclid.

I would like to get the running boards off as well as the fender flares. Makes the tires look really small.

Also like to get rid of the gold emblems....

What happened with the Spivey's running boards? I was there when they got removed.

Be sure and burn the ole miss sticker after removing it.

As far as the gold emblems, spray paint em black. There might be some posts on it in the 100 forum.

Finally another 100 member.

+10 on all three of these!!!

Welcome.......you'll never be the same again.....

I went to the Toyota place in Baton Rouge with my first 80 and told them I wanted OEM silver emblems and the coonass at the parts desk said "So, you want the de-spook kit"

I died laughing......

Just did mine this past weekend. Ordered OEM Toyota chrome emblems from CDan and it took about 3 hours to clean off the old ones and make the swap...looks perfect. Mine had the Lil' Wayne meets Gonesh Sanjay Patel package when I bought it as well.

It amazes me that these trucks still leave the car lot with gold anywhere on them, particularly the Lexus rigs. I wonder if certain options sell better in certain areas. I see a lot of gold trim on new cars driven by retirees in South FL and young guys in.... Hinds County.

So if you don't mind me asking, how much did It cost you to order new emblems from CDan? How do I get in touch with him?

I was just planning on pulling them off and spraypainting the old ones. Thanks in advance.

I think Lash sanded and painted his flat black and they looked great. Ask him about it.

The whole set, front and back, was about $ 125 shipped I believe.

I think it was Duplicolor smoke satin. Just go find a color you like.

You will need some dental floss or thin fishing line to get the old emblems off. Then you have to remove the residual glue from the truck and the emblems. My paint still showed a faint shadow where the emblems were. Sand and paint. I recommend multiple coats especially on the front grill emblem. Get some thin 3M double sided adhesive tape and stick em back on. The front emblem attaches with a couple of screws.

I really liked the dark rear emblems, but the front emblem gets lost in the grill since there is little contrast.

Come to the Feb meeting and hopefully Spivey will have it there.

Thanks for the info. How much trouble was it to get off all the old adhesive? Did you use anything special?

Spivey lives across the street and down about 6 houses from me. I will go check his out.

Regarding the old adhesive, I used a piece of flast plastic for scraping and Goo Gone for, well, getting the goo gone. It took a little while, but I wanted to remove ALL of the old sticky stuff before putting the clean new emblems on. It is a 3-hour job if done right.

If you buy new ones from Toyota, you can just peel off the plastic "sticker" and press them right on. The work is in removing the old ones.

just spray paint them while they are on the truck.

The emblems came off fairly easily but left lots of the adhesive that I have not had time to remove yet. Did you go to the trouble of waxing the area where the newly painted emblems are going to go? I was planning on doing that.
