I learned to drive in red 1980…had the front bar too, must have been a full load truck.

So what's the plan for this one and can we get you to start a build thread ?

Everything on it is twenty five years old and shot, so all new everything. If I can unbolt it, I'm rebuilding or replacing it. When I get the rod bearings, rear main seal, oil pump, etc. in then the axle goes back with new axles shafts, hubs, seals, etc. Then shocks, control arms, track bar, ball joints, steering box, etc. The top end has been gone through last year, but I think it's got a cracked head, so it gets a new head, too. All new HVAC, rad. and new floor pans were done last year. Next year maybe the rear end and fuel tank type stuff.

This is the most I'll ever write about it, so no build thread, too boring. I'm done buying new cars ( I hope ), this one should do us fine for what it's purpose is, getting groceries. It should last another ten years and that's more than we need.

I was looking for one of those first, but hard to fine in descent shape and a ton more money if they are good. I prefer them over this cheap one.

Wife had 1 of those long time ago 1990 i think. That 4.0 had better 0 to 60 times than a new Corvette of that year . And yes I owned a 1988 Grand Wagoneer with the 360, was a Friggin tank and only cost me $1200.

These 4 liters are fun to work on. Everybody makes parts for them and most are easy to get to. I just got the rear main oil seal out today, not too bad.

So's Funny story bout da Grand . Was working 2nd shift. Shift got over at 1 a.m. and 1 hour away from home. Left just after 1 it starts ****ing down pouring like those Summer storms🌧🌩. Me pulls over at Lee Circle in Lee N.H. cause me wipes taint werking . Keep in mind about 1:20 a.m. Me's in da parking lot at circle wit me feets hanging out da drivers doe, boff hands in da middle of dash wit stereo hunging out da dash . I'm trying to get Vise grips on da wiper arm and me hears a womens voice! Legs out both hands in dash wit stereo hangin out . Mr. Bob everything awight. Yes officer trying to get wipers workin . Imagine that, thought she was gonna call Fire department to have them extract me . Was Funny

Ain't happening. This thing is easy to work on, but just doesn't float my boat, more like working on my Mother's Rambler. I spent the day putting in the rear main seal, rod bearings and a high flow oil pump, which kicked my butt. I want to get through it and move back to the Mud Hen. Summer is coming and all building stops when the grass starts growing.
