I've read the thread about installing slee sliders. Not sure if there are any other options available currently but the slee version look great.

For those that have installed them, how difficult are they to install?

I am a mechanical neophyte and have limited tools. I imagine just based on tools need to install I'd need to find someone with the know how to put them on, correct?

Would you guys trust a local off-road shop or better to find a friend?

I'm also assuming I could go up to Slee and have them installed. Anyone done this?

thanks as always!

I did the install on my 100 at home with floor jacks. It took about an hour. For the 200, I would expect it to be something similar... so how comfortable are you with a friend, a six-pack of beer, and an afternoon?

The hardest part is drilling all the holes for the rivet nuts to mount the brackets. There are some nuances between years too, but nothing that you can't do at home. Some others have had suggestions of using step bit, drilling oil, and going slow, all good ideas. I went at it w/ the correct sized bit right out of the gate and needed 2 bits to complete the job, each were trashed by the end.

White Knuckle's seem to be a popular choice of late, I love the look of them, but I don't understand the kick-out. Have been wheeling plenty of times where that kick-out would have contacted a rock and kicked the rear end over, with the Slee-ders I was able to "slide" right by w/out drama.

I would strongly advise a low speed, high torque 1/2" drill for drilling the frame. I have installed two sets of sliders on 200s and found that using a regular 3/8" drill was only good at burning up drill bits. The slower speed (which takes a boat load of torque) is better at actually cutting the hole rather than just spinning and making smoke.

I installed the Metaltech sliders, only need a drill and some wrenches, pretty easy install...

Thread hijack...that's a very well composed shot, Kreiten, but you are in the pic. So who's taking it? Or did you set it up?

Just trying to figure out if you simply have a magic camera that makes all your photos so awesome.

Talk to Trail Tailor. He's on mud with some new sick looking sliders. Install is the same as the others. Custom choices as well.
Good luck brah!

Ken has a secret weapon in his photo bag...as his wife is also a great photog!

hah, wish I had a magic camera! yah @Markuson is spot on, my wife grabbed this pic!

If you buy the Slee, make sure you pay the extra $ for the installation tools. They are mandatory for 99% of people unless you are a mechanic with thousands of tools and hit the jackpot with the unique requirements.

Come to Breck & stop by Slee a few days early for a pre-scheduled install. :)

I would LOVE to. I have a big camping trip to the eastern U.S. and Canada in late July/early August all set so me and my LC will be otherwise occupied. For sure to Colorado and Utah next year!

BudBuilt will have sliders available in a month. Made out of any material you want, no drilling, and will be the strongest slider on the market. Here is the prototype. That's not all of it, the mounting design is not pictured. Along with the fill panels for the steps. Plus it runs the entire length of the rocker panel, unlike all the others

Thank you all for the advice. Definitely some good options out there and likely I can't go wrong. I think the drilling is the part that I am most uncomfortable with. I don't have great tools but should be able to handle most other things. I have a basic small cordless drill, certainly not a 1/2" and no pneumatic tools. The Budbuilt with no drilling is intriguing. I do like how most look like a step. I don't need the step up but wife will and eventually kids will too.

I assume the others: trail tailor, Metaltech and white knuckle all require drilling?

Looks like I may need to find a friend with a drill and better tools.

The Metaltech's def take some drilling, I was shocked at how easy the holes were to drill...

This drilling picture is with the 3" lift correct? Probably not quite as easy with standard height. But does look fairly straight forward. I think I am going to wait until budbuilts are available. then compare them all again and go from there. Good options all around. Just want to get rid of the running boards but the wife wants a step.
