Pretty easy to install. I notice I get a little dizzy if I Iook at the mirror too long.

just did mine and i noticed between looking at the picture and rerouting it I've put my cable tie around the entire outside of the inner mirror bracket, it seems to have worked even though its not quite the same.
havnt driven with it yet but the electric adjustment seems to work

Did this last weekend, I fed the zip ties though the little gap between the pivot pin and the center, and crossed them left to right. Works perfectly!

Did this today. Great to get that jiggly mirror tightened back up! This forum continues to be a gold mine of information!

This worked great. I ended up running my zip ties a little differently around the outer bracket, but the principle was the same. Great fix, would not have ever thought of it on my own.

Yep. I agree. Did it this weekend. Nice quick fix...

Just bought an 80 yesterday and noted the drives mirror on the road test. Did the zip tie with some added butal tape in the bottom hole where the screw hole was stripped and the plastic was cracked. First fix done!

Thought I would contribute my method. At first I tried 2-part epoxy (don't remember what brand I tried) but when it gets to be about 110*F here in the summer, it didn't hold up. So I went to Home Depot and got some Loctite PL Premium (polyurethane) and glued the mirror onto the bracket. Make sure you clean up the contacting surfaces, and hold it in place for a couple minutes until it tacks. A word of caution though... it will be pretty much permanent, and if you ever need to remove it, good luck. This stuff is pretty nasty. Make sure it's PL Premium and not anything else. Oh, and for the love of God wear gloves.

I did this last night in about 20 minutes. So far so good! Thanks for the easy fix.

Just a thought for those thinking about repairing the plastic with either paper clips or JB Weld - it was the plastic that broke. This tie wrap fix is actually stronger than stock. (Kudos to the OP!) The brittle OEM plastic and real world vibration combined with the questionable design is why. Tie wraps, while holding snug allow a slight flex in the mirror holding "bracket". Tie wraps are awesome and so versitile! I have used them in so many repairs and situations where nothing else would work. Just remember, being made out of nylon (or something close), direct sunlight hardens the material, shortening its life. In this case it will be for the most part out of direct rays of the sun. IMHO any repair or use of tie wraps needs to be checked periodically, especially when exposed to the weather.

This is a super mod, but, I wish I hadn't cut of the end of the zip ties so soon. I live a mile down a wash board road and after a while it gets shaky again. My advice, don't cut end of zip ties till you've driven for a while, you will need to re tighten.

Thanks for the tip. Just did both of mine on my 96 LX450. I can't believe I lived with it this bad for so long.

There was much discussion a week or so ago on my "where are the cheap dorkels" thread. Got the chinese dorkel, great product. For this fix i used whatever zip ties I had laying around, bad idea. My zip ties are shot. This is definitely one of those situations where you get what you pay for. You want this fix to last, get quality zip ties, no matter cost. My cheapies have lasted about 8 months, shaky mirror again, granted I live on rougher roads than most.

 Have to laugh about this as I did the same thing.

Shaky mirror fix gone wrong. My mirror was just about to fall off so I pulled over and tried to do the zip tie fix real quick like. got the zip ties and zip zip and the shake was gone, but the mirror wouldn't adjust anymore. the mirror was wedged a little at the top so I gave a little push to help it along and... custom mirror.

Looks like I need to order some new mirrors.

So, call me crazy but j have no idea what the shaky mirror issue is. Is it the mirror itself (the shiny part) that the bracket breaks? Or is it color coded housing of the mirror? Sorry for sounding so stupid.
