That's what I was thinking.

Of course, then this useless non-tech post would/should get deleted. ;)

Don't you have some seat heater switches to sell somewhere?

Yes he does - but they are not just seat heater switches, they are Toyota OEM seat heater switches of the highest quality and appearance!

I was counting on selling more, including to you, but since you didn't, I have to work more hours! :hillbilly:

Looks pretty dang good, Tom!

This question may be the most petty, anal, detail ever asked on the forum, but is there a p/n for the blank covers ? I assume I can just go down to my local dealership, but my results vary depending on who happens to be working at the time!

55539-32010 is the part number stamped on the back of my dash switch blanks.

Works for my '96.

Anybody figure out how to wire up the OEM switches?

Thanks a lot for the write up!

I would be interested in someone explaining the OEM switches too. I am working the issue but since I am a  kinda guy it may take a while. Anyone?

THis is what I have so far after checking for continuity(?). These reacted and changed the reading on the multimeter when checked together.
Black wire with white stripe and Light blue with Orange - High switch
Blue with black stripe and white with black stripe - High switch
Black with white strip and green - High switch

Blue with white stripe and blue with black stripe - Low
Black with white stripe and green - Low

Black with white stripe and Green - Off

What this means? Hopefully one of the electricians in my department can tell me.

It would be nice to get the OEM switch info added for completeness. Maybe Mot the switch flipper :flipoff2: can find a wiring diagram.

This may not help, and I'm just guessing, but typically the green wires are for lighting. So there are three lights (high, low, and switch light) and three green wires combos identified:

Black with white strip and green - High switch
Black with white stripe and green - Low switch
Black with white stripe and Green - Off

So I'm going to guess these are for the lights. Others should be power and ground - I think.

ARE YOU CALLING ME A FLIPPER??? :flipoff2:

I thought I had the wiring diagram on CD somewhere, but cannot find it!

I'll look some more, but we might want to contact Jim (elmariachi) as IIRC he's got his hands on one.

I'm going to get me another one if I can't find one though.

Mot :hillbilly:

OK, I must have misplaced the CD when I was moving.

I've ordered another one and I should have it in my possession in a day or so.
It's "supposed" to include the wiring diagram. We shall see!

Stay tuned, maybe!

This may be a stupid question, but couldn't you use the unused connectors in the center console to power the seat heaters and switches instead of wiring all the way to the battery?

A heating device requires a lot of amps (10a in this case) and you DO NOT want to use wires that are too small. Undersized wire will heat up quickly, melt through the insulation, short to the metal body, and burn your prized truck to the ground and your garage if the truck is in the garage and the house if you have an attached garage. Use a wiring chart to get the correct size wire and use it.

Tom,
Very nice job with the install and an even better job with the write-up. FAQ for sure.

Gotta bathe the kids and run off to church, but just wanted to post the diagram real quickly.

Maybe some of you geeks can figure it out just by looking at itself, but if you can't perhaps Tom can bother his wife to help out with reading the Japanese text.:hillbilly:

I shrunk it just enough to be allowed to be posted, but if the quality is not good enough, I can send the file to any of you in its fully glory. Just PM me your e-mail addy(s).

Also, with this CD I've got info for the rear AC wiring, headlight washers, and folding mirrors as well. Not that this wiring business makes any sense to me though.

Now get to work you nerds!

I can help with any help with the language later, if you can pinpoint any specific part(s) or just with everything.

LMK!

Mot ;)

Ok. My Jeep buddy was kind enough to wire it up for me with the OEM switches. They are in but I have a couple questions.
1. The seat pic is lighted, however, when switched to hi or low should the one selected be lighted as well?
Here is what he told me:
Black w/ white stripe = switch light
Blue w/ white stripe to yellow
Blue w/black stripe to red
Green to Black
White w/black to Green
Light Blue w/ ORange stripe = not used

I am probably leaving something out but can't think of it right now. I will have him look over the diagram and see if it looks similar to what he did.

Yes. You can see the 2 LEDs in each switch in Mot's wiring diagram above. The LEDs are polarized so they won't work if the wiring is backward from the above diagram.

Just a note about the blanks, here is what I found:

Part number 5553932010 was superceded by part number 5553932010C0.

You can either get these in the standard black or oak and they are ~2.60 each.

Glen

P.S.

I just gotta say that is what I like about this site, everyone combining efforts and getting things done and/or figured out.

Little Engrish Added

I've translated the Japanese indicating what seat types/years, etc... so it would be a little clearer:

Are there any wire colours mentioned on the diagram?

Yes: red, blue, white, black, and amber(yellow?), I believe.

You'll have to give me a little more time if you want them labeled(sp).

Hi Mot,

Thanks for the diagram! You don't have to re-label it. If you want, just tell us what colors the different symbols refer to.

Scott

Would this be part of the stock seat heater harness?

Not that I know what it would look like, but do you happen to have snapped a pic of it? Maybe someone can identify it.

Scott,

I'll try to post the characters, but the ones in the diagram is not too legible(sp) so let me know if I need to clarify it(The wires that are going vertical has the characters turned to their side (Has been rotated 90 degrees to the left), btw. I'll re-label the diagram with the characters in the ( ) later (Not enough space to do a clean job with the full "Black, White, Orange, etc...".

黒: Black(BLK)
白: :White(WH)
赤: Red(RED)
青: Blue(BL)
橙: Orange(OR)
