I went with the Platinum P2 group 65 also. Great battery.
I would go with the Automotive version over the Marine
due to a year longer warranty and they are designed differently as stated above.

Just checked out Sears site, the auto battery has a 48 month in use free replacement whereas the marine has a 36 month in use free replacement. Auto has 930 cca and marine goes to 1130 cca. After looking I think I would also like to check out the kirkland/costco one for $61, sounds hard to beat, couldn't find it on website but on a completely different thread they have a really cool idea for trailer/tent, check out the link...
Costco - Lifetime® Camping Tent Trailer

x3 on the Costco. Just a plain ole good battery, warranty and price.....

But you can get a different style rubber coated bracket at Auto Zone for $8.00

And here is where I drilled two holes to replace the new/shorter 'J' hooks.

You sure those holes are gona hold ?

I honestly don't think there's a difference between the automotive version and the Marine version except the Marine has extra terminals. I've looked at the specs and they are the same in every way. The marine version does only come with 3 year vs 4 year warranty on the automotive version. But, I believe that has more to do with them knowing that people who buy the marine version will probably put them to more rigorous use and be deep cycled more since it'll most likely be on a boat.
I have PM2's in my dual battery (marine for starting and auxiliary) setup for over 2 years and have yet to see any detrimental effects.
If you plan on adding wiring from the battery, go for the marine version. The extra terminals are convenient.

I've read, on this forum, that the sears platinum batteries are rebadged Odyssey batteries. You may be able to find more information on Odyssey batteries rather then Sears Platinum.

From personel experience, it's been in a bit of a cold spell up here, -40 degrees F at times, I've got a sears platinum. The lights are as bright as can be, no dimming what so ever. And it's been unplugged for about two months, with out a battery heater.

Or, you can take a piece of fuel line, split it and use it as an insulator along the top of the bracket. I had the same issue with my old Triumph.

so question on the Platinum... Is it shock and spill proof like the Optimas? Optima claim to fame is the ability to be dumped, rolled, shaken, stirred, etc, and remain reliable (just don't over charge it). Can the same be said of the Die Hard?
