Maybe there are "blemished" Scheel-Mann from time to time for us bargain hunters?

Yeah. I just sent an email. I have a degree of fear for my wallet now depending upon the answer.

Yeah, that mas my mistake too. I hadn't planned on spending a ton on my interior other than new carpet and recovering trashed seats. Decide to drive down to Portland and butt-test the seats at the shop and was instantly converted. The Varios are more comfortable than the seats in the German GT I have in the driveway.

I'm scared for my wallet...I'm getting very close to pulling the trigger here on these Vario XXL's

@Overland Tailor @hamishpotter @red mud fj - which bolster option did you go with? Any regrets with your choice? I'm leaning towards the R... especially after talking to Toby.

@NorCalFJ100 I have the Vario F XXL I believe in the driver seat, but I would almost prefer the R and be cradled a bit more. I'm not sure about the bolster option since I got my set used (mildly) from Toby.

As they say in the site if you have a tall truck, the R may get more wear getting over the higher bolsters but they're not racing seats.

Passenger seat is regular size Traveler LR (bottom cushion is removable, have not found a use for this yet since still have rear heater), :princess: happens to be about 5'6" but it's comfortable for me too.

Both tilt forward since they can be used in a D90 or other 2 door, which I find esp useful when I sleep in the back of the truck it allows more room for a mattress.

Driver armrest is game-changing.

No regrets. Enjoy and keep us posted.

Thanks for the insight! Toby happens to have the F model in stock and ready to ship with all the extras I wanted, which by instant gratification standards is appealing...but I'm thinking the 10 week lead time to get the R is the way to go.

I went with the Vario F XXLs - While I'd have no problem getting saddled in to an R, if my wife ever has to drive she'd have a hard time clambering in to the seat on 4" of lift and 37s being 5'3.

I agree that I prefer an R-type seat. I have similar on both cars and love how they hold you in place. That can also be a downside when you need to squirm your butt around and look out a window when you're in the rocks, etc.

I do find that I have a nice slide in and out routine from my truck. I'm only running a OME 2.5 and 35s. Toby said you have to definitely get used to the R Bolster and develop a technique. I drive 90% of the time. I was thinking maybe a R for the driver and F for the passenger.

I have the Vario F XXL, Traveler, and the Touring models. For me, the Vario’s are the most comfortable. The Traveler is also pretty nice.

You are the Scheel-Mann spokesperson!! I'm in dire need of the XXL's due to size. Have you ever sat in the R model? I'm torn between the R and the F.

I tend to slide in and out of my stock seats. Supposedly the R is more supportive and comfortable, but I'm not sure I'd like to be jumping in and out of them.

See if Toby can hook you up with someone nearby for a test-sit.

I did. There's a shop about 60 miles away that has the F Model XXL. I may go check them out. But no one near by has the R. Surprising for Los Angeles.

Maybe post up a new thread looking for someone passing through?

Toby runs the US operation and will be the guy to reply from scheel-mann usa | Orthopedic Automotive Seats . I've seen some deals talked about here on Mud in the past when stock has changed over, etc.

I talked with Toby about getting some seats. He seemed really annoyed with me when I started asking about prices. Guess he only deals with high end clients who pay whatever. He only wanted to sell me Varios since I could not try them out, which is understandable. I told him Varios would be great but we’re outside my budget. He said he did not want to sell me anything else and I should look at the seats as something that I could take with me when I switch vehicles. I just couldn’t get past paying for $1,700 a seat plus shipping and extra if I wanted an arm rest. So I ordered up some Recaro specialists. After looking at there website and adjustability they seem just as good or better than the scheelmans. They were 1,065 a piece shipped to my door. Plus they have the armrest which was extra but you gotta have it in the TLC.

I hear ya on the pricing. For me it's a function of unattainable comfort in anything else. I'm 6'8" and 280lbs. So far these are the ONLY seats that come close to accommodating me...and for all the not so tall people, I have yet to find anyone that is less than incredibly enthusiastic about their purchase. To each is own though.

I have the F's. Like them a lot.

Sorry that you had a bad experience with Toby. I've found him to be a very standup guy. Maybe a bad day or miscommunication. It happens.

I don’t think there was any miscommunication about it, just my questions probably annoyed the heck out of him and based on my questions he made the assumption that I was not going to be buying the seats so he gave up and become a 🤖
