The decision of making the platform was definitively a good one! it was so easy to attach the drawer and its solid. I can now add additional bike attachments and other items easily which is what I wanted. Really happy with the outcome.

So this past weekend I installed the Doug Thorley headers, which are a beauty!. The moment I took the stock heatshields off and unveiled the stock manifold I thought to my self..... I can't believe Toyota had the nerve to attach such an ugly thing to the 100 series.

Look at these ugly, bent up asymmetric, caveman manifolds from Toyota., not even Daimler Chrysler would do this. in the 90s:

Then there was DT:

Those indentions on the stock headers were there I didn't do that.

The DT headers are like a pearl necklace around the 4.7 now, I don't even want to put the flaps back on.

Do you know if these DT headers will fit on a 2006 LX470? Mine are leaking and need to be replaced. Thanks.

Now about the install, and power gains..... that's what everyone wants to hear because it's not all about looks right?

You can read many threads on here they all say the same - PS side is easy, and it is...

DS- on the other hand not so much. IMO there are 3 must-dos.

1.- Loosen trans mount
2.-Loosen or remove DS mount
3.- Remove steering column

You do these things, and you won't drive your self mad.

The engine will need to be pushed up for bolt access on the DS side being mindful of the fan hitting the shroud.

Everything else is straight forward, unbolt and bolt.. you will need stubby wrenches and all kinds of different tools and hand yoga techniques to get the bolts out., I replaced all the bolts and used all the techniques known to man to remove, replace and tighten new bolts.

Power gains? significant......

I feel power throughout, the truck feels lighter than I did from page 1 on this thread with nothing on it. It shifts, runs and idles smoother. It feels fast in LC terms.

I'm so glad I did this upgrade and feel its on the top 3 of best upgrades I've done to the truck, dare I say it may be #1. The truck is no longer a slouch.

VERY nice! This is one of my 2019 upgrades. Looking at doing F/R Lockers and regear to 4.88 as well the DT Headers. Any power increase would be nice in my '98 which is now burdened to several tons GVW :(

What's with the driver side DT header for pre VVT motors- that out of place high rise tube to clear the UCA mount compared to the VVT version that is nicely tucked under and behind it. Is there a performance difference? If the balance tube for VVT air injection were left off it would be a nice clean looking fit.

It already takes the patience of a god and finger yoga strategies of a ninja master to tighten the bolts off the non tube headers. Those above look impossible to bolt on especially the two lower bolts under the middle pipes. I wouldnt even try to put those on if I had a VVT. VVT has plenty power anyway. This upgrade for me put me at VVT levels I think.

I looked at my invoice and looks like the part number for mine is not meant for 06. They are 1998-04

I thought about buying these a few years ago, however it said that they will not fit a 98.

You sure Kelly? I was told they did, its on my invoice as 98-04

Well good, I am pleased to be mistaken. I know that I looked a few years ago and 98 was not on there. It began in 99 on the website. Probably just a screw up.
