I would die of heat exhaustion coming from South Texas. Our temps in August are usually 100 degrees-ish.
It was a 118* going through the Mojave desert on the way to SAS 7 two years ago. It's always over a 100*. no matter though I always tow my rig to events/trail runs

Tow Rig pulled strong AC blasting under full load up hill at 75 mph never missed a beat 😍

asked is if people from states outside of CO actually drive their 40’s to SAS or if they are all trailered…. I think that was a 10 🍿question. In hindsight it was a pretty dumb question, but I was naive and as the saying goes… you dont know what you dont know.
Haha yea that was a really dumb question!!
(Wait a minute, what is the right answer?)

So far lots more towed than droved with these few responses. I would guess 50/50, but like you said you don’t know what you don’t know.
I appreciate the openness of the community here and the ability to learn.

Real OG’s will say drive. Reread Casey’s first post carefully….
Drive several hundred or thousands of miles, wheel some of the most Iconic trails and see amazing scenery from altitudes as high as high as 13,130’ in the majestic San Juan Mountains of Colorado. Then drive them to your next destination.
I trailer. For one, I have to bring stuff for the raffle. Two-I like to enjoy my vacation AT the koa, not going 70 850 miles to get there. Do whatever you want and enjoy it.

While I think it's the spirit of things to drive there and back  The way I read it the only requirement is a solid axle Toyota 😍

I know that having my trailer there in camp has help get rigs in need back to camp for repairs in the past.

How ever you get there I look forward to seeing all you Cruiser Heads for a good time in the San Juan's

I ended up driving (1,300miles round trip and 13+hrs seat time each way). It worked out fine (I do have a/c) other then having to stop every 100-120miles to fill up with gas. We left Ouray at 6am for the drive home and drove it straight thru (I am sooo glad my wife volunteered to drive part way as my right leg kept going numb with no cruise control!)

Its all part of the experience!

We used to get to Kansas and say ‘we’re almost there’ but then learned better. Now we’re like ‘oh no, Kansas’.
I’m 20-21 hours from Denver. In a Tundra.

I know some do more , but it's over 1000 mi. one way for us.

We say that when we hit the KS/CO border… and again when we reach canon city…

I’m running out of 🍿. I’m with @Ditcherman and I also wondered what the split was between driving and trailering.

Thanks for posting this! I am sending it to my wife now.
high % of 40’s are trailered

high % of 60’s 70’s 80’s are driven

(at least that is what I’ve observed)

Drove my 40 from NM last year, however, did trailer from Texas to NM at the beginning of the summer.

Will be driving my 62 from wherever this year with the potential for having my 40 waiting in the wings in Durango.

I drove the 45 up from NM last year. I am obviously closer than some. I take the scenic route , so I can explore on the way up. The trip is what you make it, just get there safely.

I’d drive it everyday/everywhere too. Probably my favorite truck last year. 🥵🥵

80/100 in 45 clothing, beautiful work Denis.
Sadly I don’t see you on the attendees list this year.
Really enjoyed running trails with you and checking out your 45 !
