So sad !!
It was a windy day yesterday in the mountains. I was at a show in Dillon (Breckinridge area) and within 2 hours you couldn’t see the mountains in the mountains.

Hopefully they get this whole area under control soon. Monsoon season is around the corner and is much needed.
As of now the only limitations I foresee in the way of SAS 10 may be no campfires. Totally understandable.
We will be watching and report anything that may affect this years gathering. Unlikely it will cause problems.
Please carry a Fire Extinguisher in your vehicle and use extreme caution when you are there.
See you KnuckleHeads in 35 days! 😎
Casey..

So is it normal to be having nightmares about getting my rig done before I go. I just had a dream that I was literally pushing a non running cruiser on to a trailer to go up there just this morning.

Totally normal. Mechanical night sweats are one of the many hidden gems.

A buddy of mine lives just north of Ouray past the KOA about a mile sent me this this morning.

@BombCity Thanks for keeping us updated and making sure Jeff and the crew at KOA is doing alright. I’m sure it’s tense on the ground but I’m glad they’re ok for now.

Two pics from last evening, the other from this morning, all taken from Oak Street. Gold Mountain Fire (Watch Duty app). Winds were brisk from the WSW this morning and pushing things NE but have died down for the moment. We had breakfast at the Miners Cafe yesterday morning, have not heard how they fared yet.

Thankful it is not in Ouray propper. Saddened by people's losses. Hopefully no casualties.

Per Watch Duty there are three planes over fire as of an hour ago - two tankers and one that I assume is recon. Hopefully the winds continue to stay favorable so those planes can stay out working.

Lots of hardworking folks fighting this fire I’m sure, and all the other fires out west right now.

Whole west seems to be on fire . We have even a larger one going on in Grand junction right now. Lost a few firefighters in it last night. so sad . Lighting started the one in Junction . It is so dry out here ... We do a run every year last year same time this water crossing was 5 ft at the sign . I've never seen that lake that low even at the end of the season

Finally got a map. Winds are pushing the fire northeast towards the wilderness area

KOA and Ouray circled. Green hashed area in upper right is the Uncompahgre wilderness area south of Owl Creek Pass. COTREX Map.

It’s going to be a long, smoky summer for many. I don’t want to assume we’re out of the woods yet for SAS10.

Out here we are surrounded by lighter fluid-soaked tinder. My summer home is concerning me greatly right now. :frown:
