That guy has crazy skills. How does the song go? “Been spending most my life livin’ in a broken bolt paradise…”. Got one out like this but had to drill out the other one. These are captured nuts to bolt down the bed that both had broken off bolts.

The boy welded on the motor mounts today. They were already bolted but hey why not. Welding is his new favorite thing.

Waiting on paint for the frame so the boys tried to get this Blazer started. It’s an old BIA truck. Pretty sweet. One boy didn’t want to get his shirt dirty so he just took it off. It’s like 35 today and snowed overnight. No one can know what’s in the mind of a boy.

the 2 front doors are different years, red is later 77?+ and the mustard is 75-76?

I guess his shirt didn't get dirty

This Blazer is sweet indeed!
Does BIA mean Bureau of Indian Affairs?

How can you tell they’re different years?

How can you tell they’re different years?

red door has the 3 holes for the side mirror
mustard does not, 75-76? had the mirrors mounted with the hinge bolts
I can't remember exact years

assuming all the mustard pieces came from the same rig, the windshield frame would have the smaller wiper motor and cover

Thank you for sharing the information. I’m still learning the nuances of the different years. We’ll be using mirrors that mount to the windshield hinges so we can enjoy driving with no doors.

Patching floorboards cuz it feels so good. If you look at post #25 above you can see the before. Also worked on the body seam a little. Picked up the painted frame. Assembly begins tomorrow.

Also spent the weekend in Moab and generally showing off my athleticism. Kids love it when I try and keep the dream alive.

Very productive day today. The boy is cranking through some of these broad strokes. Pulled the motor and bolted it into the Sancho chassis. Also did a little cleaning with degreaser and power washer.

So I'm having a problem. I am in the process of taking items off the red truck and putting them on Sancho. I pulled the center arm pivot off and as it turns out newer ones are different than early ones and won't fit to the frame. It has to do with the angle of the crossmember relative to the main frame rail. The early truck frame has a rearward rake on the bottom of that crossmember. It needs a wedge shim or something to work to correct this angle. I can attach some pictures in a few minutes. Surely someone has dealt with this or has a solution? I'm putting out the Bat Signal...and don't call me Shirley.

Second picture looks like there is some sort of plate that has been added, covering the original frame.
