Speaking as someone who is 6'6" and has always loved the 45, I understand your son's situation. He lucky he's got a creative dad with a well-equipped shop.
I put Corbeau thin-bottom seats in my son's Camaro for the same reason, and in my 43 I even went with the Tom's Bronco thin bottom seats for the same reason. Every little bit helps.

Couple quick progress pics. Paint and body on the bed is happening. The picture with my finger is to point out where the bedliner will be sprayed to. The headache rack fits tight and will come down to that level. Not surprising, bedsides were wavy gravy. We did what we could.

Installed the bed. First drive in a long time. It’s validating that we did everything right. No exhaust on the truck so of course it’s loud.

That means a ton from you. Your builds have turned out really nice. It’s been fun working with the boy. He literally touched every bolt on this thing. He did all the welding and cutting. The tough part is that he doesn’t fit in the truck anymore. We have a plan for that. All he wants to do is drive it every day.

Here’s the first start after installing the new exhaust.
At 6'6", I feel his pain. It's a cruel irony that the coolest pickup ever made isn't made for the average tall guy.
Good for you and your boy. My son and and I got his IROC running and back on the road together (nothing like your project, but we did suspension, brakes, tie rods fluids, interior, cooling system and all the wear items). He loves that car now and treats it with great respect. He's also not intimidated by it needing periodic repairs.
You've set your boy up well for the future when his friends will all be waiting for AAA for a flat and he's able to get himself home no matter the issue. Viva New Mexicans.

New updates. We have a bonded title in the works. In the meantime we brought it back to ABQ. Now that most of the major fabwork is done we can mop up punch list items. Henry was so excited he just drove it around the neighborhood for the evening and took some glamour shots.
