My kid decided, when he was 5, that my 1990 F250 with the 7.3l IDI was the "Rumble Truck". Now that I have a diesel 55, he has decided that it is the "Rumble Pig" (he is now 8). Works for me
In case anyone was wondering where Tucker's '79 55 went, wonder no more. It is now at its new home, in the PNW, in my shop where it is getting some lovin'.
The truck is very straight with relatively little rust, and Tucker did a great job with the build components he tackled. I have been focusing on the engine bay, as the owner before Tucker apparently did not like wiring, so seems to have spent as little time as possible on it. I've been tidying up the engine bay, and there was also a coolant leak to attend to. Ended up being the gasket between the water pump housing and the block, as well
as 2" chunk of hose known as the "bypass hose". The MBZ OM617 motor is pretty easy to work on, and there is a ton of info out there that has been very helpful.
Plans at this point are to get the cooling system back together, finish soldering new wire terminals and get all the wiring plugged back in, install the new glow plugs, and then drive, drive, drive.
Will of course be doing rust repair/remediation, and a paint job is in this lil' piggy's future. Going to put it back to blue and white (original color scheme) though probably not smurf blue.
The '76 55 I originally bought will be up for sale soon, and the other '76 and " 77" I've got I will continue to part out.
Looking forward to daily driving this pig, and seeing how it does in the snow and the wet and sloppy trails we have in the PNW!
