Rth - cant get alternator belts on

Maybe you should take some time to read the FSM when you have an issue. It saves a lot of time and frustration.

I did. I saw the alternator adjustment page and followed it, but didn't see anything glaring on belt routing.

Just as an FYI, but If you look in your 1994 FSM on the top left of page CH-9 and on the middle left of page CH-22 they both have illustrations showing the proper belt routing.

I run without the idle pulley. Took it off when I installed @Photoman 's alternator bracket last year and haven't put it back on. Much quieter, not had any issues with slippage or belt chatter. YMMV.
