Very nice rig! And also, thanks for introducing me to those Hankook MT's. I saw them on your rig and thought, that might be a viable alternative. After I saw their price I was hooked. I've had the same size on my rig (295's) for a few months now, and they have been awesome. Plus, they're one of the few MT's that come in a 295 size.

Sweet ride!

Man that XJ didn't really have any flex did it. Bet you feel spoiled now.

Oh and by the way that takes some Huevos to do that, you can go from Hero to ZERO really quick....

Hey you guys...stop swelling Dave's head with all these compliments on his truck. We here in SoCal still have to wheel with him! :flipoff2:

Out of curiosity... About those cans in the front. Any problem at all with leaks dripping to the tent while driving at a high range of speed?

It did alright, with ARB's front and rear i didn't much care. Actually the XJ had more flex than the 80. That pic was snapped in a instant. That happened so fast i almost flopped it. I was throwing it in reverse when that photo was taken(notice the reverse lights). Droop never occured, it was unsprung weight. The angle was weird on that pic too.

Talk about no flex, here's my last rig. It had as much flex as a brick.

Love you too Brent :flipoff2:

Nope, NATO style cans don't leak... else i wouldn't have them up there, i wouldn't want fuel leaking down onto the sunroof either.

The coils spacers seem to be holding up good. They have about 3,000 miles on them so far and no stress that i can see is taking place with all the weight on them. Caster is fine with just caster bushings, but im also heavily loaded. If i took everything off the rig the true height of the springs would come into play and it would get twitchy on the highway. Then i would need to address it. As far as the ride.. It rides like a big boat out at sea! Thanks for the kind words.

Very nice truck and some great photos. Did you guys see any one else at Amboy crater?

Dave:

Great write up, your rig has come a long way in a very short time. It just goes to show if you want to get it done quickly you can. Also I believe you did most of the work yourself no? I know what you mean about the 42s and D60s, crowd. Too bad too because rock crawling can be a blast but too many times in turns into a d*ck waving ego contest. In any case really dig the rig; you have done an excellent job sticking to your goal. I need to look over a few of your mods in detail so that I can pouch them, see you at the next SoCal 80s run/meet & greet.

I am now looking into installing these tires vs the Toyos, price comes into play!

Yeah we met up with another old couple along our hike up to the top. It was amazing cause they were in better shape than us!

Thanks man, yeah, i've done all my own work, except for any welding that took place. That, i left to my buddy that does it 10x beter than i ever will.

They seem fine. Last real trip out was the first time in the rocks and they did fine. I was worried that the sidewall wouldn't hang, but no problems whatsoever. No complaints and they're probably halfway through their life. I think im going to get them again on the next go around.

Thanks again guys. I appreciate it. I worked my butt off on this thing and im glad you guys dig it.

Nice rig dude.

Hey, the IAFF sticker on the unmodified photos, is that yours, or the PO's?

Ok, here are a few pics from back in the days when 35's were big on a XJ.

That makes my weewee feel funny everytime I see it.

Can't believe I overlooked this thread. Nice work Dave.

Great set-up. I'm over the 44's and 680hp myself. Time for some cruzin'. Can we see some detail pics of the ladder?
