Never heard of that, how does it work and how much do the cost if you bought it.

Edit: saw that you made it, how did you do it? Wouldn't mind that for mine.

Check out the link I posted earlier, I paid about $130 if memory serves me correctly. I think it was about $150 for colors. I didn’t end up using the complete roll but came close and I should use the rest to finish up a few spots I missed. And that’s where you can really see the benefits of it, outside the magnet the body is all scratched but under it’s just like new. It was real easy to make you just roll it out and cut with a sharp set of scissors to match each panel.

You do however get the occasional “Why do you wheel it if you don’t want to scratch it?” question. My reasoning is that it’s my only reliable rig to wheel but it’s also my only nice vehicle to go out to dinner with, so I have to at least try to keep it nice.

Awesome rig very well written. Tthat Magnet cover you made is really thinking out of the box and unique. I have my hi lift mounted in a similar fashion. Love the slee bumper without the Hoop I don't like the hoop at All. thanks for sharing.

What about a future to do / wish

Thanks Sam. I was never big on that hoop either and I would like to create my own and weld it on. As far as a future to do list, if anyone thinks I’m long winded now in my writing I would never stop writing if I started that list. Funny thing is if you met me in person you would be lucky to get two words out of me I’m actually very quite. In short I love the safari/outfitted look so I think I will head in that directions, any tips would be appreciated.

Dat magnet stuff is kinda like a more advanced version of saran wrap. lol

Nice looking rig, did you re-gear for the 35's. How does it drive on 35's, do you notice a loss of power?

Yea, the saran wrap does have one advantage over the magnets and that’s because you can place them on the fender flares. The ’93 are fiberglass and of course magnets don’t stick to that or the later model plastic ones. So my flares are all hosed up, I have been toying with the idea of Line-x ing the flares with the color match. And the trails have been nice enough to remove the flares for me.

Thanks. No re-gear but it is defiantly on my to-do list. Yes, there is a loss of power while driving on the 35's but I mostly drive with the 33" MTRs.

Scott - very nice write up and pics! Very thorough. I like the hi-lift mounts.

Just noticed the artwork on the ealier pics of the rig, formerly the Running Boards. I made some art myself with my boards. Hopefully no body damage as a result of the bending.

My running boards resembled yours thanks to PKP80, Ammo, Ian, and Biff. :D Sam did suggest taking them off before the run, but I was looking for my excuse, like Biff, to replace them with sliders. hehehe

Thanks. The hi lift mounts have been working out quite well.

Luckily I was able to get away unscathed.

Thanks. They are sweet.

Yes, that is the perfect excuse to get a set. And I quote “see honey, if I would have had the sliders this wouldn’t have happened”.

First, IT'S NOT SARAN WRAP!!! :D

Second, you could use both the magnetic panels and then put the plastic on the flares, mirrors, and parts of the truck that the magnets don't cover.

Third, you can do >90mph with the Saran .... err, I mean the shrink wrap... with no worries about it coming off. :D

Once you get in the vehicle through the sunroof :D

Did you cut the hoop off the Slee or did it come without?

Is your fire extinguisher quite secure? it's head-height with the driver....

That's the reason I special ordered the Outback rack from Slee with the sunroof hatch.

Ok, so a second advantage for the shrink wraps; high speeds. Multiple trips I had to stop and tape down the magnets leading edges, not quite wind tunnel capable.

Dan, I actually purchased the last remaining Slee bumper without the hoop prior to the increase in steel pricing. I think now they mostly sell with the hoop.

Good question on the extinguisher, it is secured almost to the point that I’m concerned of getting it down quick enough. And I have a back up in the tool compartment, but that’s now behind the wheel.

Sweet… that is defiantly one that I would like to get! Can you even get it without the hatch?

That camera mount looks like a good idea but how is it attached

I took a piece of 1/2” conduit and flattened one side out in a vice and drilled two holes the same distance and diameter as the headrest posts and painted it black. Then I purchased this clamp for $15 http://www.clamperpod.com/. And it works out great, I used to ask the shotgun passenger to hold it but then I started to wheel with my daughters more often and they would just loose interest after the first 20 minutes of holding the camera.

I noticed you arent too satisfied with the interior tire mount, particular reason? Loss of cargo room? Also, what exactly did you do and do you have any more pictures of it? Very sweet rig!
