Yeah, I read that thread and the instructions, but I guess I'm not explaining my question correctly. I know the tie rod stays parallel to the housing but I was originally thinking that it would move more as the steering was cycled from lock to lock. Move as in away from or closer to the housing. After looking at a bunch of the setups, as well as my own, it won't happen as drastically as I was originally thinking, so it wouldn't be an issue. Nevermind, but thanks for humoring me

Send me your addy again i'll get you 4 sets of polly bushings like i used... You can get the metal local ;)

guess im still not getting it, but for whatever it is worth the wheels were nearly straight if not straight when i took the pics of the ram.

are they spring bushings? if so im pretty sure ive got some poly bushings in one of my boxes round here.

as far as the metal, apparently there are like 2-3 places here pretty locally, the issue is my bank account.

Dang page 6...

Joel got the bushings on my birthday (monday) super excited to see sleeves bolts and lock nuts. Thank you very much!!

as for updates, I cut the shock tabs off of the spring plates and welded them to the rear axle and got my rear shocks mounted, the shocks are 12" travel and i used the stock upper mounting location so it didnt leave me with much up travel but with my current wheels my tires make contact with the frame / wheel well at about the same time the shocks bottom out so it will be just fine for now. whenever i go to less backspace moving the uppers will be needed to be able to get the max amount of travel but ill worry about that when i get to that point.

having done that and it being nearly completely out of gas i decided i wanted to drive it and see the difference and put a couple of gallons of gas in it. that led to me wanting to see how it handled on some "off roading" there is a little place down the road that has some hills and some ruts and with the rain a lot of mud and water, actually a suprising amount of water and mud. there was enough in places to get close to the top of my 38.5's!

I was pretty pleased with how it did pretty much point and shoot even in the slick clay crap that was there.

1.) pic from yesterday when the sun was out.
2.) same
3.) today after drivin around.

1.) giant glob of clay
2.) i was in 2 low most of the time hence why the rear is so much dirtier
3.) when i drove off it was flying down the road then landing on my front window

Thanks man, Im really diggin it, the little hills i was playin on and some of what i went through today it wouldnt have made it and in other places it would have taken some creative driving to get through, now it just goes.

and for the info on the wheels (some the post left out)

they are 15x8 Rock Krawler wheels reverse offset 2.5" backspace.
I got em from 4 wheel parts and retail on them i think is $90 a piece or something. sometimes i wish i would have gone to a 10" wheel but they work well for now.

on the tires Interco recommends a 10" wheel so i figure im still ok with my 8's. the tires are TSL Bias Ply tires and are 38.5x16.00-15. tho i think they have em listed 16/38.5-15 or something like they usually do when you get into the large stuff.

oh so yesterday i also ordered a tire siping / grooving iron so when it shows in a couple of days i will grove them and then re sipe them for better traction.

some1 sold me a set of 5 15x10 rims, 2 have 3.5 bs, the other 3 3.75, so i have a set of 1/4in spacer in the back of the truck. cant complain at 120$

looks like you could use 10-12in wide rims with those tires

i read most of your therad, maybe i overlooked but;
i didnt see any mention of how you set your rear pinion angle, it looks like you pointed it just a little under tcase? is that a 2 ujoint drive shaft? do you have vibs at highway speeds?

Yea i aimed both pinions just under the transfer case when i set em up, since i have an 84 my front shaft is a DC in the rear im using the stock rear shaft. I do have some vibes but my drive shaft is also bent in the rear just slightly from some rocks. I think if i had it re tubed it would prolly go away. I dunno, it doesnt see the road much these days, but my goal is to keep it drivable too.

Its on my list of things to do, but as of yet i have not lost a bead even at 6-8psi, we will see what happens with the taller tires.
