It has been said but it is great to see it out side.
Looking forward to see what you do with the sheet metal around the rear wheels.

Thanks. The plan on the wheel wells is to continue dow the body line that I cut. The blue taped part was a quick template to get an idea of how it'll look. Not sure exactly how I am going to yet but that is the plan.... I may throw in a little twist in the area but well see how time and patience goes. Sure wish I had your skills for that part. Like the rest of this it'll be a learning process.

looks great...has it realy been three years

Nice work!

And pssst: Now that you have it out of the garage, go back to post 265 and fix the garage door bracket! :D

Oink!

Uh oh what are you up to now?

Nice neighborhood. Just saw the photos on the previous page. Your neighbors must think you are one crazy dude.

Yeah, but in a good way.

Don't tell me you bought another project.

I did indeed. I picked up the pig for a steal (and I mean a STEAL)... has an aussie locker, gm goodwrench crate 350 in it already, and couple other cool things. Its a rust bucket but I plan on cutting it out and doing LOTS of body work. Someone broke into it and broke the steering column and it does not currently start which is why the PO sold it to me so cheap. One solid weekend of work and it could be running. That is my only intention with it until the Swagger Wagon is running. After blue is running I'll move back to restoring the pig. My plans is to make her into a nice driver/expedition rig. Pretty much stock except the motor and maybe some Alcan springs.

I hear you there, get into a running / driving cruiser for the mean time to help with motivation for the swagger wagon. I'm looking forward to the build up!

They're just too cute!

I love piggies. They just look awesome. Someone in Houston had one for sale that was all done up. Priced at $30,000. I like yours a little more ;)

I think that couch next to it should be donated for piggy upholstery. :p

So when you getting a 40?

Hey, that's my "lounge" area... In front of it has a tv with the orginal Nintendo and my computer hooked up to a stereo. :)

My boss might have a heart attack if I brought a 40 into the warehouse. But if I found the right deal....

yea pigs are still my favorite... I had about 10 years ago and made the mistake of driving it in the winter and the ohio salted roads just ate it away :frown:...

You got to love the look of a greasy spoon/bar right there in the shop with ya...:D

Moving that rear axle back does a lot for the long ass thing on FJ60s! Your truck looks pretty pimp!!

Question: do you plan to box the body back in where you built the tower and cut it up in the rear?

I did the same thing on my Patrol, ie moved the rear axle way back and cut up the body. I left it that way and ran it open for a one week long trip in Arizona. I also played around a few times in it on much shorter trips. I put a tarp over the huge hole and it still sucked balls. Reason being; dust, mud & water came into the truck even with it tarped off. More then anything I really hated cleaning it all up after wheeling. It made it a huge pita to get the inside of the truck clean not to mention at times the dust coming into the cab was down right nasty.

Here is what we did to box it up in the rear...

It made a HUGE difference in ejoyability of the truck off-road. Even if I was just rock crawling I still got a ton of dust inside the truck with it all open. I don't use my Patrol for just rock crawling so something had to be done! I personally think if you are going to have a full bodied rig that the advantages of the full body should be used. For me that is no dust/dirt/water/mud in my cab. Plus being able to use the heater and be protected from rain/snow/hail. If that stuff isn't important I ask myself why not just hack most of the body off so there is less sheetmetal to worry about smashing!?

Any ways, sorry for blah'ing on in your build thread....cool truck you have!

*Edit* I see you have truck fenders for it, I didn't look throught he whole thread when I posted this. I am interested to see how that all turns out once you get it done.

Thanks.

I'm not totally sold on the rounded fenders I got for it. The box type like you have would probaby be a better route because it seems like it would give me a bit more room for storage. Call me a redneck but I'm as fond of mud as I am of crawling so some type of enclosure is needed. Just not sure yet on what I am going to do.

I am the same way, I like to wheel in more then just rocks.

If you want more pictures they are at....

Maybe it will give you some more ideas. The only thing I would change if doing it again, stamp some spots in the flat sheet to give it a bit more ridgity and strength. My towers are pretty strong but I might also think about something stronger for the cross bar if doing it again.

ohh dude .. lucky you .. if I bring another project ( junk in wife mind ) to home .. I will be dead man ..
