Nice to know that they actually do exist out there.......glad you are keeping it stock, lets all the rest of us know what we missed from the showroom floor!!

Cheers!

I like the hand hold above the P-seat. And the shelf thing you have there is cool. Did you put those on? Did it come with a rear heater? When did they start using the knob on the glove box door? What is that little knob to the right of the lighter?

What's this, what's that.....? :D

the grab handle is factory, it came on the rig(all 81+ have this, maybe earlier), I suspect they used this because the dash Oh-s*** bar is not used.

Shelf, its from SOR, I have one in both 40's and the 45, very handly, it mounts using 2 of the stock screws.

yes it came with a rear heater, in 81 I think the rear heater was moved to under the center console, so when I added the Tuffy I took out the rear heater(and OEM console) I don't need it in WA

Glove box knob, I think in 79, I understand you can use the locking knob from a fj62 to make the fj40 door lock, I need to try this.

Little knob is aftermarket(the OEM hole had a plug in it, its also a very small hole) so I used this knob(which looks like the OEM interior light switch in an earlier 40) to run the OEM fogs, but sense adding the OEM fog switch I am now using the little switch to run my elec hand trottle(which runs off the AC idle up on the carb, uses a small VSV)

That's an amazing FJ40. There's a sad FJ40 that is never driven down the street from me, your story has convinced me that I need to walk over there and make the owner an offer.

John, I give you a lot of credit for keeping your TLCs up like you do it is a lot of work in that area, I have seen your Green 40 from the road in front of your office, I almost broke my neck the first time. Someday I will stop in and check out your herd. This truck has something special going for it with the way it became yours. IIRC you found it on Fox Island, for it to wait there until you stumbled on it and be in that condition is amazing. It is a Verrrrrrry Nice Cruiser.

no kiddin? too funny :) guess I forgot you lived/worked around here?

no I found the green 82 in the Rosedale area(Henderson Bay Estates, same place I found the LX470) The 90 fj62 came from Fox Island as well as my 86 fj60. The Mustard 82 fj40 came from Seattle........all original owners :)

What funny about the green 82, a bunch of guys I know in construction had driven by the 40 100's of times and thought about asking if it was for sale......but never did. When they saw me with it they were all kicking themselfs........"is that the 40 that was sitting in the yard?" "why yes it is" :)

It has takin alot of work over the years, but at this point none of my drivers need anything and prolly won't for along time, they have all been gone thru, so really I dont need to do much more than change the oil and tune em up when needed.

thanks :)

One word AMAZING!! Nice story as well you are very fortunate to run into such a fine piece of machinery.

Oh yea lets see some pics of that '82 mustard cruiser. You truly are the Land Pimp I'm so jealous you only own two late model 40's but also my two favorite colors. You must be some cruiser god!

its a bone stock 82, few little rust spots(one on each rear 1/4)

I am not sure what I am doing with it, I want to make it a factory soft top 40 or build a wheeler out of it........but the latter just kinda bothers me.

BTW, Landpimp has nothing to do with Cruisers, I sell real estate.

Very nice! let me know if you ever want to sell the mustard cruiser I can be down to GIg Harbor in no time. HA HA. BTW sorry about the name mix up.

correct, they are OEM Toyota Land Cruiser Kioto E-code headlights from France(I beleive) brand new, they came with yellow bulbs(as requried in france many years ago) but they were only 45/50wat non halogen h-4 style and also had a very uncomon base(ie can't go to the local parts store), so I tracked down(for a good deal of $$) some yellow(and clear, and spares) H-4's with the correct base in 90/100 watt. These are ment for rain, snow, fog.......and also IMOP look pretty cool ;)

Waiting to see if the cops give me any grief because of the yellow.....I except not as they don't look "ricer" they look "retro" a

Are the headlights Yellow, or is it just the Pic.

If you think that pic of the Cruiser how you found it is sad, you need to come look at some of the crap I see down here...
