Great looking rig!! I have the same steering setup. Any problems with it on the highway??

nope. i've run over 100mph, but i wouldn't recommend that  i raced john from coyote cruisers home down i-70 in the foothills one year, with my little trailer in two, 85-90 mph then.

Dad had also built a custom front bumper, which we later welded the tow bar mounts to, and after I cut the rockers, he welded on the angle iron to finish them off and make them a bit stronger. The bumper sticker was added later. I used to park next to a guy with a ricer at work and he said the sticker was just about eye leve as he was getting out of his car:D

one of the guys i used to work with had an old chevy he and his dad were restoring and couldn't use the grill emblem since it was split, so he donated it to my rig.

next pic, you can see how far up i moved the fill plug to make up for the axle being tipped for soa and because i needed a bit more fluid for the oil setup for the full floater.

one of the first trips was to cruise moab....that began the belief that this cruiser hates moab. everytime i've taken it there, weird things happened. this time, the newly reseald tcase blew both the input and output seals on the way there.

My second cruiser, the Nuclearlemon, had Chevy rallye rims that had

been clearanced for the cruiser and when I sold it, the new owner

parted it out. Fortunately, he was a friend of both mine and dad's

and he brought the rims to dad saying 'someday she'll have another

cruiser', so I had 36" tsl radials mounted on them.

You can see the rim setup in the pics of me playing on the ramp shortly after getting it up and running. This was at a Colorado Land Cruisers rally, don't remember what year tho.

Also, a pic with the hardtop shortly after I bought the current house.

For the longest time, the cruiser was multi-colored. the tub was mostly rustoleum gray, with a bit of the faded repainted blue. you could also see bits of the original green peeking through in places. The hood was the repainted faded blue. One fender was rustoleum gray and the other a slightly different shade of blue and the rear doors were horizontal blue; I was happy with that for a long time and it drove dad crazy. So I got rattle can happy one day and did it a Krylon shade close to spring green, with crappy drunken rustoleum gray flames. Except I always left one horizontal blue rear door just to drive dad crazy:D

Russ, dad's son, built me a rear bumper that I always planned on

adding a tire carrier to, but y'all know how that goes.

The rear bumper wasn't installed right away, that took me a while to

make the plates for the hitch and get the led tail and turn lights

mounted, but it's finally on and it ain't goin' nowhere.

Also, got in on the first batch of Eshan's tops. Got some matching material and redid the oem soft doors to match.

I added the Ford shock towers a few years ago. Also, put in a Tuffy overhead (don't waste your money) and, in keeping to the mutt idea, added Freightliner lighting. Didn't like the Griffin setup (they have much better options now), so I went to a four core oem with a Taurus fan. Had issues melting the solder out of the fuses, so I just recently switched over to 40a circuit breakers, hopefully that will fix the issues.

In teh first pic, you can see the All Pro arms and Ricebilt rods. Definitely hefty, not going to bend those rods. Also, I've been a TLCA supporter since I first got into cruisers and have displayed my dash plaques all these years. Wish they'd never gone away from the old school round plaques, but what can you do. Wish they'd never gone the to the boring fj40 pic either:rolleyes:

The last pic is the most current pic I have of it. A different early top, has the rear corner windows cut into it, just no glass. I need to figure out what year glass will fit, or modify. Should make it easier to see out. The old top is now residing on my 65 fj40. It's not quite as shiny and the tires are getting worn, but it's still a fun truck.

Because I've got more time than money, I'm selling both 40s. I will miss them, but I've decided to only keep one 55, the 45 and my 80. I'm kinda glad that no one's spending any money right now and I still have it, tho. ;)

Very nice write up Ige. It is so cool to see a vehicle left for dead, brought back to life, enjoyed, and now going to be passed on for some one else to wheel.

nice rig

Nice Rig and great scenery!

Question on the shock towers---what year/model ford do you get them for and I suppose you sleeve the frame before bolting them on---is that right?

thx

i didn't sleeve them. maybe should've but the original mounts weren't sleeved either. don't know what year, mid 90's i believe. f250. ford part number e5tz-18183-a. yep, i kept track. i kept track of most everything i put into this rig. don't ever do that.:bang:

build up pics are great, but you gotta throw in some wheelin' pics, so here we go

Awwww....

For some reason Ige, the the 40's have you written all over them. Not that the piggies don't, and your 45 is without a doubt a keeper. Have you gotten much done on that since I saw in a year or so ago?

Nice Write-up Ige. Saw the title and had to come over.

Ige is one of the best people you could ever meet. Almost 5 years ago I decided to upgrade the distributor in my 77 red FJ40 and did not have it down all the way. I ended up seizing my engine, fortunately just a few rod bearings.
I had just gotten back into Land Cruisers after an 18 year vacation and didn't have the knowledge or the tools to dig into the bottom of the 2F engine. Ige offered her garage and her and another friend Magoo (Shaun). Helped fix my truck,

I miss that truck.

Ige led me to The Rising Sun Club, and now I am the commander of the club.

Ige is the top of my list of great people and one who I truly respect and am very proud to call my friend.

Here is another of her wheeling her 40

If for any reason Ige ever stops by your house, make sure you have a few beers in the fridge so you can kick back, relax and talk about Cruisers.
