Your rig is amazing looking.

How many years have you been working on it?

Three years and counting

Off to install a Duall band radio and next up is the Sub Fuel tank.

Every time you think your done, there is just some other mod that you have to do:D

Amen to that, my friend ;)

And here is one I finished just today after passing my FCC Technicians Test

I installed my setup after passing my test today. I still need to clean up the cable routing a bit and put clips for the mic in.

I installed the radio on top of the Safari Drawers and am tthinking I don't need to run an external speaker, but I ran the cable to the front just in case. I can always plug headphones into it as well:D

I velcroed the Head Unit to the bottom of the CB with the bottom resting on the CB external speaker.

Nice job on the radio install Ken and congratulations on getting the Tech license. I have the license but no radio. I will have one before CM.

Very Nice write up Romer. Nice to know there is such a wealth of information out there when I get ready to build my LX.

The Alan Parsons Project? Your dating yourself.

Romer,

Just a bit o' clarification on your lift... Are you running 850s or 850Js up FR? I think I recall you said you were running 863J in the RR.

Just to update on changes to my Rig

I have replaced both batteries in my setup with Sears Die Hard Platinums, same as the Odyssey

I swapped out the Engel frige witrh the newer ARB. I like the compartments and the digital display. I put the Engel in my trailer

I also modified my trailer connector to come out of my bumper

I also installed a Ram Laptop Mount

I replaced Rachel's laptop last year and I had this 4 year old laptop lying around. I took it on trips like Moab and the Black Hills. It still works fine for the web and most office type applications.

I had a Dell Pocket PC I used as a GPS. The one thing I didn't like is it provided a small view based on its screen. When I expanded out it was hard to see.

So I researched computer mounts and seemed a lot of people had success with the RAM Mount III.

I went ahead and installed the setup. Using it for GPS and detecting wifi spots. In addition to my company provided broadband card, it provides a lot of flexibility on the road to surf the internet, look up my PDF engine repair manual, use MS Office for anything needed and to use for GPS for on and off road. I can also watch movies (Not while I am driving). So I also bought a 12V plug for the laptop to run off one of my aux ports

Not sure how much punishment it can take so I will try it out at Moab. If I like having the laptop and this doesn't hold up, I can get one of those smaller tough books.

If I don't like it, I can go back to my PocketPC setup

You can see the brake controller I installed in the above picture as well

I can take the top part off easily and the base really doesn't get in the way of the passenger.

With the laptop installed, you can still fit a passenger, just part of the laptop is in their space

Ohh, I also bought an AT Horizon and sold the Jayco

I have cleaned up the wire routing in the cab since I took those pictures :D

romer, if you have a hard time finding a good laptop mount, look up a company in the denver area called global mounting solutions ( i think ), guys name is mike rickert. he specializes in pc mounting solutions for police/emergency/city type stuff. he also drives a tacoma, and likes to get out here and there.
