The Wreck:
I was driving from Steamboat Springs, CO to Denver, CO, and the conditions turned horrible coming over Rabbit Ears pass. I was due for new tires and I lost traction coming across a long bend, and it began to slide sideways across the highway. The passenger side tires hit a very large snow bank—when the Land Cruiser hit the snow bank it rolled right away, skipping 95% of the passenger side, impacted on the roof, and rolled back on the driver side. I towed it back to Denver and have had it sitting in my driveway since the accident.
Background:
I purchased this vehicle in May 2016 from a Toyota salesman in Durango, CO. The Land Cruiser is originally from New Mexico and was kept as a vacation vehicle at a mountain home in Durango. The vacation homeowner took it in to the Toyota dealer to see what the “clicking” was about and when they told him the exhaust manifold needed to be replaced, and he then decided to trade it in. Toyota then replaced the passenger side manifold and the timing belt/water pump.
Since buying it in May, I have loved this vehicle and hate to see it go. I have had minimal problems and serviced it during the short time I have had it. The only mechanical issues that persists before and after the acceded is that the starter has been sticking from time to time and sometimes it requires turning over several times. My loss is the right person’s gain.
Current Condition:
Obviously, the roof is in pretty rough shape and various body panels have been damaged by the accident. The driver side window, front window, and sunroof were broken in the accident as well, but I have had it under a car cover since the accident. With all that being taken into account, everything else is working and in EXCELLENT condition. The truck runs just like it did prior to the accident and I have driven it to auto body shops/car washes/etc. This is the perfect vehicle for anyone in need of a new drivetrain or (tan) interior for their Land Cruiser.
Ideal Outcome:
If anyone has or knows of a “shell” Land Cruiser please contact me. I am pretty well versed around vehicles and am capable of dropping this drivetrain into a donor Land Cruiser.
I wish I had the time to part this vehicle out, but my work schedule precludes that. My price range in mind is $3,500 obo, and if you are interested in purchasing this Land Cruiser as a whole, please contact me with an offer. I am willing to negotiate but I know that there is value in this truck as-is.
Please PM me if you know of a donor Land Cruiser that is for sale or if you would like to make an offer for this truck as-is. Buyer assumes all risk purchasing this vehicle; caveat emptor.
