I need to hardwire mine, can someone explain to me like a 1st grader how to do this? and I think i lost the hardwire that came from it, hoping I can cut the cig lighter cord instead.
Yes cutting the cig lighter is the way to do it. The hard wire you are referring to that you lost was the backup camera wire… best imo is to take it to an auto sound place, they’ll do it in less than an hour. I had them add a rocker switch to toggle on and off. Route cable to the speaker grill on top… good luck

You can cut the cord but you need to wire and fuse it on a dedicated circuit. You will need to either tap in at the fuse box or run from the battery. The easiest way is an add a fuse in the box.

Something like this..

Easiest/less intrusive way is to tap into the cigarette lighter under the stereo. Follow first few minute of the grom install…it’ll show you how to take the panels off. You do not have to remove the stereo . Just pull out the cigarette tray. Then tap the cigarette lighter wires.

I’m not a fan of sharing that circuit, I have a 45w charger there. Agreed on that being an easier approach though!

definitely not a good option if he is using the cigarette lighter for a heavy draw item. But it can easily handle the road top and another low draw item:) What are you using the 45w charger for?😳😊

Any pics/videos “tapping the cigarette wires”?

Is it essentially cut the cig lighter cord between dash and outlet create pig tail on dash end of cord and connect roadtop and other wire back to outlet?

Hey

I really want to know about this if someone has 2008/2009. I purchased this unit and well i want to understand what settings to keep. I dont think I can use BT audio setting from the EQ menu as my car doesnt play audio over bluetooth or is there any workaround ?

also will 100% of the audio route from the RT unit ? I had made google maps directions come from the headunit somehow once but cant seem to happen again.

any/all help is appreciated, also i think RT stopped selling these units now

Hi all, trying to get some additional information on the units. Sam as @Sameer 's comment, can't seem to find these listed anymore? All I can find on their website are the modules that are used to integrate into the factory unit. It seems like the prior Roadmap units have dried up on amazon

Also, curious to know if anyone is integrating these with @nakman 's Gamiviti accessory mount? I've got Bulletproof Mounting arms but can't determine what size ball I need to mount the screen to the arm. Haven't found conclusive answers on the Gamiviti thread yet either.

Appreciate any thoughts on current CarPlay screen solutions!

Does the 2008/9 have aux input? if so, you should be able to connect the RT unit to the Aux for audio...

Yes, RT 8.9" is discontinued, likely a new model coming...

CarpodGo T3 is a great version, I have a couple of buddies with it and it seems better quality and more stable than RT

I used the Gamiviti. Below is what is used…and the track.

BRCOVAN 1'' Ball to 17mm Ball... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09WZRVYSD?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
BRCOVAN 2 Pack, Double Socket Arm... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09WMBRYZ6?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Do these displays run Android and if so can you just load apps on them? The OBD Fusion on Carplay is lame. What I really want is just a decent screen to run OBD Fusion or a couple other apps at various times

OBD Fusion on Android Auto is just as lame. I haven't tried running it as a separate device. I use it primarily for music and maps.

I figured it was. Really what I want is a cartoon Android tablet that’s low profile/wide

I got the latest firmware for the 8.9 Road Top from them, so whoever has that can upgrade to the latest

lutuo-8.9-2025.04.10-v3.0.6:

System software upgrade method:
Use an 8GB USB flash drive, format it as FAT32
1. Unzip the file, copy the software inside to a USB flash drive, and then connect it to the provided USB cable interface.
2. Turn on the car and go to Linux screen settings → System → Software upgrade → Select system upgrade (wait for the USB flash drive to be recognized and confirm √ upgrade).
3. An update progress bar will pop up, and the screen will automatically restart after the upgrade is completed in about 2-3 minutes.

I’ve never updated mine. Should I?

Also, anyone able to get the mirror screen option to work?

I would make sure your model is compatible. When I contacted them, they needed to see what version you had, so they can give you the right firmware, which tells me they aren't exactly the same on the inside, even though they all are considered the 8.9" model. Typical Chinese product. They will update and change stuff without actually changing the advertised model that is being sold to the public.

AFAIK
