YouTube Music will also auto play. That also points to an Android/app thing.

One more thing on Android, the SMS and What's Up messages playback volume is very low compared to the music volume. The navigation prompts volume is Ok although lower than the music volume.

Only thing I don't like is using it for phone calls - my BT connects for calls to RT 8.9 and LC but the RT take priority.
It's on a switch and I turn it off when my phone rings, takes a few seconds then I can answer with steering wheel controls - using a Samsung S23+

On startup Spotify will automatically play if I was using that prior but any other app will only auto play if it's a short time out of the truck... like getting gas.
You need to change the settings so that RT is only functioning as CarPlay Display and all audio stays BT with the Land Cruiser (Need to change setting in Equalizer section on RoadTop to indicate audio handled by the vehicle). This way you dont have any issues with the RT "taking priority" on calls or ANY audio. I also set the iPhone for Siri to "respond over Media source" so the Land Cruiser does not switch to the Siri Screen which some times is too loud or actually crashed the head unit; Siri is also much more responsive this way...

Mine is an 08 so I am using the 3.5mm plug for audio since BT only works for calls, not audio.
Phone is a Samsung and there is a BT setting I can uncheck to prioritize for calls but I can't get it to save and every time it reconnects the RT takes back priority.

Holy s*** I need to try this. Thank you for the tip.

Shout out to all on this thread. Installed the RT (haven’t hard-wired yet) along with the L & D mount and i could not be more pleased.

Following up on this, what exactly was the setting you switched within the equalizer? I was looking around in mine and all I saw was the actual eq settings and specific volumes. Any chance you have a picture?

This is an 8.9” model, if you don’t see this option you probably need an update to your firmware…

Going to try the 8.8 for a week then get the 8.9 if it fits our needs. Temporarily mounted for now. Seems to connect well and works as expected. A little slow on power up/ connection. Hit play and it’s ready.

Also found a Bluetooth module I didn’t know was on this cruiser. And figured out how to operate it. LOL.

Here are a few options for install using the L&D custom RAM rail. What differs is the adapter used to position the screen. I only listed the adapters that actually work, and only adapters that I could buy on amazon.com with free return.

First off is BRCOVAN double socket arm compatible with RAM Mounts B Size 1'' Ball (posted here before)
It position the screen higher, hides the mounting and the cables better, offers more support from larger area resting on the dashboard.
Takes away some of the visibility out of the windshield, and has a longer reach.

I do not have a picture with both screens for this one but see previous posts for pictures.

Second is VAZESWIN Double Socket Arm 3.5"
It positions the screen lower, offers good support from resting the body on the dashboard.
Takes away less of the visibility out of the windshield and has a shorter reach.

Last is FANAUE Double Socket Arm Medium Arm – medium DA-90
It positions the screen lowest, offers some support from resting the nut on the dashboard.
Doesn't take away any of the visibility out of the windshield and has the shortest reach.

Does anyone have the latest firmware for the 8.8” (version 2). I’ve tried contacting RT for the last 2 weeks and they haven’t responded.

I also ordered the 8.9 from them, but I’m afraid they might be out of business and I’ll never receive it.

Just completed install abs hardwiring Road Top 8.9 and couldn’t be happier! With exception of current mount. I’ll be looking for low profile alternative, but this will work for now;) I tapped the cigarette lighter for power( white w black stripe and pink wire ). I also hardwired a uniden r3 to the rearview mirror power with no problems.

Special thanks to Adrenaline6, doru, and terrapin!

Could someone repost the Firmware files or DM them to me? All of the download links I could find are expired.

I just got a new unit from Walmart.com for my 200 series, and Road Top would not offer any support since I didn't buy it directly from them.

Mine are expired, try this email…
RoadTopDirect@outlook.com
Thanks! I contacted them at that email address and they sent me a link to the latest firmware. Here is what they sent with the following link and instructions in case anyone else needs them:

Please try an update check this link to download the update file: lutuo-8.9-2024.03.28-v3.0.2:

Update instructions:
a. Find a Fat32 usb stick smaller than 64GB, copy the "ISPBOOOT.BIN" file onto the root directory of the usb stick
b. Turn off the screen, plug the usb stick into the screen
c. Hold the black button inside the "Audio" port of the screen with a pin, turn on the screen, 1 second later, let go of the black button and update will start.

Also, there are a couple different factory setting passwords that do different things. Code 1234 takes you to some more audio menus. Code 2018 takes you to a screen where you can change the boot logo (to Toyota, Lexus etc).

What version does the unit displays after update?
Anyone knows what this version fixes if anything?
@simocruiser why did you need that update?
It says the version is 2024.03.28-3.0.2

I needed the update because my unit was not booting into the OS and just flashing the car logo over and over again. This fixed the issue and it is working great.

Anyone know what the latest firmware version for the 8.9" is? Same firmware as the above 8.8"?

Just checked my firmware version, which is: 2024.01.19-3.0.0
What version do you guys have?
