Not much exciting today. Replaced all three wiper blades with new OEM blades. Ready for winter now.

I'm just thinking out loud, and list-making.

Sometime over the next few months, I have to get the 200 ready for Cruise Moab.

My mechanic will give it a good inspection. I'm gonna have him check rear brake dust shields.

Hmmm . . . . I wonder what else.

I know. Starter Motor! 28100-0S050

I got a new starter motor. Planning to do a proactive replacement.

The best way to clean a dirty Cruiser is with a boy of 17.

Ohhh! Never seen that “Rope Guard” product. Fantastic idea!
I like that my remote-only Warn winch cannot be externally released by thieves or Knick heads...but the rope itself is still subject to tampering and theft of the flatlink.

Hoping it’s an add-on, and not only available built in...

Off to their web-site...

@Markuson Removing the flatlink requires removing an internal snap ring that’s very hard to access. One could cut the rope, I guess, but the rope is tightly spooled and hard to reach now, too.

Rope guard can be added on. No problem.

I had the local dealer look into cause of airbag light in dash illuminated.

Technician said wires under passenger side front seat were located such that moving the seat stretched the wiring group, causing the fault. He is aware of the recall on the truck, and says that my issue was unrelated to the recall.

Bill for solving this issue = about $65.

Took my truck to my local Toyota mechanic for replacement of starter and replacement of transfer case seals.

The starter replacement is odd. I'm doing it proactively, based on reading reports of sudden starter failures. It feels crazy to be replacing a part that is functioning, but the miles on the truck are bumping up against the reported failure zones.

The transfer case seals have been seeping, and now they're leaking. Headed to CM in a few weeks; don't want to be dripping fluid on the slickrock.

How many miles do you have? What was the cost of the starter replacement? I think I’ll do the same when the miles dictate.

Mileage is at 123,440, so in the "sweet spot".

I don't have the cost yet, because it is sitting in the shop thru the weekend waiting for seals.

That is the removed starter.

I need new tires. I’d like to go bigger than the 285/70’s I have now.

Any advice?

Tires are a personal thing . . . what are you looking to get out of your tire?

Example: I wanted as much natural clearance as I could get, I’m not a crazy off-roader, I wanted to minimize the fitment issues, and I’m budget sensitive. So I chose a tall, narrow 35” (275/80r18) in a standard AT tread from a second tier brand (owned by cooper but made in Taiwan). I have an LX so no kdss issue, but I’ll be running 1” spacers and most likely need to customize my wheel well quite a bit.
