I bought an '08 on Saturday. I got it from a dealer in Boise. It had 89,500 miles on it. It looked pretty good for the most part.

I got them to do the 90k service on it, and I managed to get them to lower their price a bit, too. Drove it home; got home late last night.

I've got a few tech questions for you guys, which I'll post up in a bit.

I went from Boise to Pocatello, where I met a guy that had a set of Rock Warrior rims for sale on CL. I bought them, loaded them in, and headed home via Bozeman & Billings, MT.

Is there supposed to be a divider in this cup holder?

3 of the rubber fillers in the roof grooves are missing. I made them pay for them. They were good about it. They ordered them and had them shipped to me. I'll get them in a few days.

This little doodad was in the truck. Kinda looks like it goes in a cup holder. Is this a stock part? Or is it just something the PO left in the truck?

Yes, there is supposed to be a divider.

The little doodad is a cup holder insert that goes into the driver's side door.

What is the plan for the Rock Warriors?

My goal is to put in a more robust suspension, more suited to off-roading. I'd like it lifted, too. And an ARB bar with a winch, too. And I want some AT tires, big ones, on them Rock Warrior rims.

I think I'm going to run this thing down to Slee Off Road and drop a few thousand $ there! They'll take care of most all of it in one stop.

Our color preferences were blue (hard to find), green (also hard to find), red, and dark gray. Decided on this red one. Also didn't want to spend $80k for a new one!

Two unpleasant surprises:

Presence of a trailer brake in the truck. I hate to think it did a lot of trailering. No way to know how much trailering the PO did. But it drives good and did not look abused.

Top section of tailgate does NOT close into an aligned position. (My FJ62 was like this too). It's off a whisker on the driver side. Not sure what I'm gonna do with this. I'll post a pic.

Slee is good people. The Duratracs are highly regarded around here. The BFG K02s are nice, though there are reports that they are a bit noisy on road.

Just noticed you are a moderator too. Very nice!

The FSM moranbahweather.com/toyota/index2.html goes over how to adjust the tailgate too.

Thanks MScruiser!!

My car came with a similar thingy...Part # 86174-58020 on the bottom. Couldn't figure what the heck it was for. Googled the number & it's a holder that fits in a cup holder to hold a rear entertainment remote control. Around $40 so don't throw it away ha ha....

I'm bummed to learn of the remote. Mine is missing. :-(

I'm planning to buy a suspension kit from Slee, including the UCA's.

I'm trying to decide should I get the stock load kit, or the heavy load kit. Any info or advice?

Nice to see another salsa red. It'll grow on you if you don't like it already.

There's a 2008 Salsa Red one for sale a mile from my house right now. Its at Herrin Gear in Jackson. If anyone is serious about it, I'll go take a closer look at it...
