Since I had to reuse the pedal bucket, I decided to clean it up. Zac asked me why I was painting it because no will see it. Well short answer.... because I will know. It was starting to get rust spots. So got that all cleaned up and painted. I will finish greasing and putting it together tomorrow.

I got some 2000° paint and will paint the exhaust tomorrow after I get it all cleaned up.

Yesterday I got some some paint remover from Zac's dad that he had at his shop. This is the true aircraft paint remover that you cant buy anymore. The good stuff that even outside on a windy day (30 mph gusts) was still choking me up. I will day this again. Monstaliner is the s***. The paint remover did cause it to bubbly up but it still strong. Pressure washer wouldn't take it off. I had to use a putty knife and scape it. Got the tailgate and LR door shaped off. Still got a lot of cleaning up to do and the LF door to do. At this point I might have to get those sandblasted (they won't fit in ours at work).

We did have a couple more 60 guys stop by the shop yesterday. Always nice to see other people's projects.

Late night tonight but spirits are higher than the moon. Got all the body mounts finally, so the tub will finally be going on the frame tomorrow. Got everything ordered except the lockers, need to pull the diffs and see if they are 8 or 9.5s. Big shout out to @TRAIL TAILOR. Jason's shop had my order shipped out within a couple hours after I placed it. Really excited to check out those aluminum trim pieces. Picked up a sand blaster to clean my exhaust pipe. The one at work sucks, guess it's why no one ever uses it. Got the doors all cleaned up today. I got some of that horrible paint stripper on my face today. That stuff burns worse than battery acid. It was a really windy day and that's how I took it to the face. I am sure the other people at the car got a good show seeing me washing my face with the sprayer. Body mounts all sorted in their places. Currently painting the doors, tailgate, and touching up spots on the body. Zac will be sad to see his wonderful penis drawings on the tub are gone.

So didn't work on the truck today. I ran around collecting oils, engine cleaner, and wiring items needed. Tried finding an exhaust shop to make a new downpipe. Struck out hard. Our lovely Californian Governor has started passing stricter emission laws here in Colorado. Such a great guy he is. So not one shop would touch it. @DangerNoodle you got a chance to have your way here but you gotta bend some 3" pipe lol.

Well after striking out I came home. SECOND CHRISTMAS STARTED COMING IN! OH HOW WE ALL LOVE SEEING THOSE PACKAGES WAITING FOR US. Join me in doing a parts dance.:bounce:
So happy I pulled the trigger on buying Jason's aluminum AC bezel and B Pillars. Very fine work my man. I am really interested in trying those aluminum wiper linkage clips. I know the linkage in Goss definitely had some slop.

The dual battery kit also came in. Now to see if I can order the special military batteries through work. They are the size of a normal car battery, have 880 CCA, but do 65 Ah. Hopefully I figure out how to get my hands on them.

Who did you call around to for the exhaust?

Also, are those all billet dash pieces?

I went to Front Range first then drove over to Pros and Muffler masters.

No the long metal pieces are the b pillar covers and the the dash bezel is made by Trail Tailor ( Jason )

I shoulda phrased that better. Is the dash bezel billet?

Presumably you wanted a down pipe for a system without cats? I would think a regular down pipe wouldn't be a contentious issue for emissions.

Yeah the exhaust system was/is lacking a cat when I got it. When they saw the flanges on both sides, they knew. Now if I told them it was strictly a trail rig, they would do it. When being honest doesn't pay

So last night I started stripping the engine down for paint. God it felt good to rip that wiring harness off of it.
20210209_193015.jpg

Maybe while everything is stripped off I will be able to figure out where to put the AC compressor. The one thing that I love about Cummins 4/6BTs, there always multiple different ways to set them up. I will end up plugging 1 of the 2 temp sensors. You can see one below the alternator backet and the other is just on the other side of the coolant inlet.

you have 9.5" diffs

Yeah you just multiply them by two, 4.56 x 2 = ~ 9.5
Well I should've said I think Jason put 4.56s in it. I have been rereading his build forum again trying to find out more. I have learned to not presume anything as much as this has been changed. That's why I wanted to wait to order till after I pull the diffs to see. Just too easy to pull the rear axles and diff on a full. I have already ordered parts before and was wrong.

Well I started taking s*** off the left side of the engine. I believe that I finally found out why the the engine was over heating from too much fuel. The pipe that runs from intercooler to the intake has holes in it. :bang:

So yesterday I got a couple more needed projects off the list. Got new piping for the intercooler. Used steel instead of aluminum. I also saw that the old one was rubbing on the steering gear box. I will put a rubber around the new plumping to help prevent that.

I also got a heater relay for the intake heater. I don't know why it was never used or even hooked up by the POs. Cummins never believed in glow plugs. Instead just always put grid heaters to assist in the cold mornings. I know they had 120 block heater and oil pan heater installed. Which is great if you are always in a place where electricity is available. Not so great when I get out in the mountains to do winter camping. So got that all wired in with a ground side switch in the dash. Just have to finish it up by soldering the wires to connect to the batteries, tighten the connector ls down in their final resting area, and put clear silicone over them to keep anything from arching.

Then I got the engine all cleaned up for paint today.

So now to the exciting part....PARTS!

Got both of my new Odyssey batteries in for the dual battery system. Found them for $300 on Amazon. They have a 64 Ah draw on them, suck it Optima, and 880 CCA.

Then my new MC headlights came in. Always enjoy that they send you Toyota Trails mags, now we got fresh Yoder porn for the shop shifter.
20210213_094807.jpg

Got another 12v diesel heater for the cab. Got an 8kw one this time. The 5kw does a good job of keeping the shop warm. I will be cruising around in the winter with the windows down. I am going to run a duct to engine bay to help keep the engine warm while camping and it's parked on the cold winter nights.

I told Zac I wanted to redo the inside panels. Since he is the upholstery master, he told me to order this plastic sheet. This will be my first attempt at ever doing upholstery work. He said it good to use because it is thick enough that it won't warp over time. So wish me luck.
20210213_095532.jpg

Lastly.... REAR SLIDING WINDOWS UPGRADE. Thanks SOR. I am going to enjoycamping on those summer nights much more.
