Great work and photos!

Be sure to squirt some aerosol Lithium grease (or Fluid Film, whatever) into those door bottoms that you so carefully de-rusted and painted. If you don't, they will rust again after a few rainstorms. By getting a sloppy grease in there to soak into the seams, you will stop the future rust. As a kid in Michigan, we diluted 90wt with gasoline and squirted it into doors and frames. The gasoline helps the 90wt soak into the seams and the evaporates. But, the smell is a problem, so I suggest using less stinky components.
I sure did, I think I saw a 3 part mixture from John mcvickers post as well. Oil, something and something. Straight up fluid film has worked well. I’m used to the stink now, I end up using as hand lotion now when I get on everything

Dan, I changed them all at once and zero leaks since. Very very impressed. They are obscure to the car market so keep a spare clamp with me. I’d do it again in a second. Good enough for a Mac truck figure it’ll handle our stuff
The one i have on my truck has been holding up well but wasnt sure about the larger ones on the radiator. Thanks man!

Touchup Paint FJ62

Wow. Amazing job - attention to detail is superb. I am pretty certain that your engine bay is cleaner than my dining room table… 😂

I had to take the bad decision I made out of the wheel wells from when I first got Cali. The rear cleaned up perfect. I’ve got color coat and 2 top 2k clear coats to do. Roughed surface with 120 grit and base coat SprayMax 2k Epoxy Primer. (That is rubberized undercoat) I was cleaning and saw what looked like rust, it wasn’t, was the rubber melting from cleaners….

Very impressive! I struggled with the front fender coating and gave up. Would love to hear how you handled those or if it’s the same as the rears

The front was easier when remove. I had the usual corrosion from battery and radiator. Weiler die grinder heads at full rpm worked good. The key was getting them on the bench. The front can be removed in 30 minutes a side, cut the seal, just lay down from Evercoat 2k. I’ll post after pics. Went on with Rhinoline up front. Was worth it. While opened fixed the wiring mess from PO. While the wells were out light scuffed the inside of the fenders and clear coated. The green primer is Marine Zinc Coat. Below waterline for corrosion. Then Rhino top

Really nice! Thanks for the suggestions. I’ll have to try that method out

Wheel Wells FJ62
Finished the rear wells with 2 coats of epoxy on texture coat. 2k base primer, black texture coating top, 2k clear. SprayMax offers color match in a aerosol can

Antenna FJ60/62
Got my Trail Tailer bracket put on for the antenna. Fits good, having to modify a gasket to be super thin for clearance. No biggie. I picked up a roll of Felpro gasket maker, maybe 1/32 and still too thick. After a few days to make sure no issues pulled off and 4-5 coats of black paint for rust prevention

FJ62 Curtains
Finished up curtains for camping. Tent rods and the tips. 45lbs eyelet magnets and favorite plaid. Outdoor store has 4 rods $10 bucks. Fabric took 6 yards. Idea is easy to get parts that can be stuffed into stuff sacks in 5 minutes.

Edit: inserted cotter pins to eyelets that slide into the ends of the rods. Used the little black caps to close out the tips, that’ll help keep the rod from making any contact with my felt liner. Several of the pics are variations in the process

To prove I went somewhere and got muddy with the cruiser. My buddy Jorge. He gets me. Very cool guy. Camping at the top of Mineral Creek first night in Colorado was probably not a good idea. Ever wake up at 2 am feeling like you’re being choked out…

I bet you have removed every speck of dirt from the undercarriage since returning home! 😊

Oddly enough I waited until this weekend to clean. The belly is awful when you cake up dirt and fluid film. But feels good to do a deep dive bumper to bumper once a year. Best way to get to know your cruiser !

How do you like that cell extender?
Those antennas move in mysterious ways. When I’m sure it’s going to boost it doesn’t. Unexpected times on very remote trails I had good service. I suspect after using the Driive Reach off and on several years it’s doing its job, but external factors like mountains hills and system load play a bigger role. Some don’t think it works. Best thing is to use the db code to check gain on system connection and use Wilson antenna direction app for tower locations. Good way to move towards a tower with accuracy in the event of an emergency

Brain storming lately more sturdy splash apron for front fenders. Some 1/16” black plastic sheets and some patience. Replacing the rubber is easy with scissors but a rigid piece has to be damn close. I’m happy with them. I’ve got some fine tuning to do and got some permanent fasteners to replace these.

Good idea looks sharp. I've put the other ones on my 60 and haven't had good luck. On the steering box side one of the holes has already torn out. Its a bummer.
